Zwilling tells you that this is air-tight without sealing. I sealed (sucked the air out) anyway and it was VERY, VERY hard to get the lid off. There is an appeal in sealing it because you're pulling the oxygen out of there and that's what helps to keep your food fresh. I bought 2 of them for deviled eggs storage. Deviled eggs are a bit of a pain to make and I wanted them to last longer than 4 days (which is the limit that you should keep deviled eggs) They were gone in about 8-10 days and still perfectly fresh. The thin chives I had on top were still green and fresh. I did use the Zwilling wand to suck the air out and just put up with the struggle to get it open.. So, now I'm able to make more of them at once because they last longer.

These containers are shipped with a faulty silicone plug in the center of the lid (where you put the vacuum punp) After a couple hours, the vacuum seal breaks and it is due to the silicone stopper. I know this because I have their other product... glass containers that are suitable for refridgerator, microwave, etc.... and have exchanged the stoppers and they worked prefectly. The stoppers on these 2 products are different. I have called Zwilling customer service to see if I could PURCHASE replacement stoppers (didn't ask for anything free) and their response is that they do not sell that part... only thing to do is exchange the entire item! (If it can still be returned). What happens in a year or two if that small piece gets lost? (they pop out easily). So here is hoping Amazon will allow me to return this flawed product. They are not inexpensive, but I thought might be worth the expense if they worked well. Also, I had to call Zwilling. I first tried to email them, but no response. Customer service is just a telephone operator that kicks the can down the road. I'd not purchase again... sad that i got suckered for over $300 purchasing these faulty items.

Overall this item work OK - I have noticed that the seal quality varies at times and I have to re-vacuum this item at times if it sits too long so that is a little disappointing. Some of my larger containers have seen cracks in the plastic container which is odd - as if the vacuum sealing has caused this.

I love the zwilling containers however, this particular taller rectangular design would be better in glass or designed with more structure. I have several of this particular size and find that the sides can be pulled in to the point of cracking. All of my bins of other sizes and shapes are doing just fine but, I find this taller rectangular bin does have the potential to crack. I have a few more that are still hanging in there. I'll let you know in an update on how customer service addresses this concern. I have invested a pretty penny into their products. I handwash my bins. Zwilling has since sent a replacement bin. Good customer service. Since then: My other taller rectangular bins that I said were hanging in there have since cracked. The shorter and square ones are all still great. Zwilling customer service states they will send replacements for the cracked bins.

I like the look and feel of the container, but honestly, it simply hasn't held the vacuum seal. I've had it for a week and have had to vacuum the container 2 or 3 times in between opening already. Nice pantry storage container, but the jury is out on whether it holds the vacuum seal. I'll update the review if anything changes.

One of the 2 came with cracks all in it, ask for replacement and received in 2 days. Great service

These are absolute junk. They do not hold their seal at all. I am writing this review because I had enough, just yesterday I sealed up the container with cereal after cleaning it to ensure it seals since it has been having issues. The next day I come to see the seal is broken. You a tell because in the middle of the grey seal is a dimple that flattens out when the seal is gone. Do yourself a favor and get the Vakuen containers, I have those and they have not once lost their seal even after weeks.

The lid is solid. Hefty. Plastics are not budget plastics. It's built to last long. It almost feels like glass but of course it's not. Great seal mechanism is fantastic for keeping foods air tight and long lasting. This specific size is perfect for storing my coffee beans. I'm beginning to really love the Zwilling vac seal container and bag system . There are definitely other systems out there but I found that while the bags are similar , the containers are eof lesser quality. Zwilling containers are too notch and the eco system comes with all sorts of sizes to suit your kitchen storage needs.

For the past 6 weeks I’ve been dealing with Zwilling’s incompetent customer support as this container has cracks in it and does not hold the vacuum seal over time, thanks to it. The sides literally buckles inwards by the cracks when the pump is running. That’s how bad it is. Customer support takes weeks to respond. They have photos and receipts but request a video of the vacuum leak, which means me having to timelapse it as it can take a few days. I get generic responses about a week or two after reaching out to them. Last communication was feb 12 and at time of writing this it’s feb 21 and I’ve heard nothing back. Their phone support is only open 6am to 2pm PST, Monday - Friday. Buyer beware. You pay a lot for crappy quality. Edited to add: Well, I called ZWILLING customer support and finally found out that they claim they can’t issue a refund as I purchased through Amazon. Only a replacement. They even told me to contact Amazon. I forced them to send me this response within the next 30 mins. I then contacted Amazon again. They have all previous correspondence and now this latest one and are launching an investigation as to Zwilling’s business practices. Meanwhile I’m stuck with a faulty product and the only option to accept a replacement, which will certainly brake within a few months of use and then back to this again. I’m refusing the replacement on principal as o wouldn’t even gift a brand new one to anyone. FYI ZWILLING also owns Henckel. Just so you know.

It doesn't work, it loses vacuum within a few hours. I have the glass ones and they work fine, but this one sucks.
