I just cut one open for you. Yes, there are 5 layers. The layers are thick, which is good and tightly woven together. I feel well protected in this mask.

No chemical odor at all. They actually smell more like a fabric. They're honestly pretty good quality.

Are these kn95 black masks for adults good to use?

I've read about the KN95 and the N95 masks. Both are wonderful and more protective than basic or fabric masks. I prefer the KN95's because the attachments go behind the ears, whereas, the N95's go around the head.
