REALLY GOOD BUT A LITTLE SWEET IN OUR SOUTHERN HOME'S OPINION
We tried Dolly's new mix and MOST of our family loves them. My dad is 77 and has been making homemade southern style biscuits most of his life and he loves them. The rest of the family loves them also. My mom is 72 and is also someone who's been making biscuits most of her life; her only complaint was that these biscuits do have a bit of a sweetness to them that she's not a fan of. There's no denying that these do have just a bit of sweet to them for sure, and some might find them "too sweet" for what most most American's consider a true biscuit. In our home here in the south we've never used sugar in our biscuit mix, so we just like them to be as full of butter as possible when they're made, and then we spread some butter and jelly or honey on them when they're fresh out of the oven when we're not smothering them in delicious sausage gravy! (I'm already getting hungry again) What I do appreciate here is that the mix is solid, you just add butter and milk or buttermilk to the package and stir then make your biscuits. You can either make drop biscuits or if you're skilled enough already then you can roll them out and cut your biscuits the traditional way and bake them to golden perfection. These seem to rise very nicely when they bake up. One box makes 12-14 biscuits with our 2 inch cutter depending on how you thick you make them. If you go smaller you'd probably get more than that; otherwise it's basically one batch of biscuits per box. If you like them sweet or don't mind them being sweet, I'd totally recommend you give them a try - at least once just to see what your take on them is. I should add that as far as covering them in sausage gravy... once we add gravy and shake on a little salt and pepper, the sweetness is almost not even there... it does stick around a bit if you try the biscuit on its own, or as a breakfast sandwich though, just to give you an idea on what to expect. I'll wrap it up now, because I can't believe I've typed this much about a box of biscuit mix already. Definitely good biscuit mix, but yes, there's some sweetness to them. Hope this helps you make your decision! Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your day!

Delicious 😋
Absolutely love this! I cooked in my countertop oven and thought I was maybe letting it get a little too dark but it was fine and stayed soft. So delicious too. My husband's favorite biscuits for biscuits and sausage gravy now. 😋 Just had to cook for longer when I used it as a topping for shepherds pie.

Preferred over other biscuit mixes
I prefer this biscuit mix over any of the other brands. They bake up nice and tall, and have a homemade taste. Plus, I can make a single batch and not have a box sitting in the cupboard for a few months getting stale. Worth the little bit of extra expense to me.

Not what I expected
Had such high hopes for this mix. I dont know if i did something wrong or what. It was easy enough directions. The biscuits were dry and fell apart. Could definitely tell it was a box mix. Won't be buying again

Best biscuit mix I’ve tried. Far too expensive but good for a once in a while treat.
