## Description

Muy BN is a 4 oz. jar containing 18 grams high purity Boron Nitride (h-BN) powder. ZYP Coatings is a U.S. manufacturer of high purity Boron Nitride (h-BN). Our BN is ideal for dry lubrication by merely rubbing it onto surfaces. Thermally conductive, electrically insulating & high lubricious, Muy BN is (as our name suggests) "very good" for many applications. Use temperatures to 1800 C (3300 F) are possible in inert and reducing atmospheres. In vacuum atmospheres, boron nitride can be used to nearly 1400 C (2550 F) before sublimation, and in oxidizing atmospheres, use temperature is approximately 1000 C (1832 F). ZYP's Muy BN also possesses dielectric properties that are superior to those of dense alumina ceramics, and is an excellent low-loss insulator material.

Review: Great for ceramic molds used to melt/slump glass. - I thought this would be more cost effective than the spray. I wear a mask and mix it with water to coat my cermaic glass melting molds. Worked great! I may experiment with just rubbing it on my molds, they are very small experiments for a microwave kiln. I am currently experimenting with mixing graphite and clay for a non-stick glass mold and may try with this as well, again these are very small molds, I would not do this with larger molds as it would be a waste. I will need to invesigate what temps this degrades at to find out if it is worth mixing in for a mold. Graphite alone degrades when exposed at glass melting temps for prolong times. Having a mold material that does not absorb heat well can prevent this. Still testing various recipes for how they hold up to the heat stress of a microwave kiln. Hard to find molds small and durable enough. At least I need not worry if my molds will stick with this. 👍

**Q: What is the Powder size. Is it suitable for coatings on projectiles?**
A: Here's some info on the powder size:
Average Particle Size (micrometers) 6-8      
d10 = 1.4 microns  
d50 (median) = 7.4 microns  
d90 = 11.8 microns 
Surface Area by BET (sq.m/g)  3 typical

As far as coating projectiles:  We cannot assure use for a particular purpose.  But, our BN is high quality and can be used for applications where BN would be useful.

I had purchased this product some number of months ago and needed some more, but unless I'm completely misremembering the first purchase, I could swear the container was full. This second purchase the container is ~60% full and isn't quite the deal I was looking for. I'll post a photo of it still sealed in it's packaging later.
