## Description

Experience out-of-the-box comfort in this waterproof hiker. With durable leathers, a supportive footbed, and Vibram traction, all in a versatile package, you won't doubt why Moab stands for Mother-Of-All-Boots.

Review: I definately rate these boots for walking - My old boots gave up and I decided to buy some fancy old style leather ones . But having a bunion they became very painful to walk in very quickly. So I then bought these based on reviews and the fact the boots I wore out were of this make. I was naturally suspicious after the failure of my previous purchase. But these booots fit well. I am a male size 9 but got one size up and they seem to fit well. They are light and when walking felt very comfortable. No rubbing on the old bunion. I dont even have to wear a covering on the bunion that I did with my original walking shoes. So a good fit especially if you suffer any bunion problems. They are waterproof as I have found out recently with all the rain we have had. Having put feet down into puddles that were deeper than I thought I was waiting for that cold wet feeling that never came. So they seem to be an excellent walking shoe. I have done a number of walks and they are not showing any signs of wear. I think they will last a while by the look of them . Yes would reccomend if you are looking for a good walking boot.
Review: Very durable, comfortable and hard wearing. - I've been wearing Merrell Moad mid rise boots now for over 15years on a daily basis without any issues whatsoever. I'm 22 stone and these boots get abused constantly. This purchase is my fourth pair in all that time, but there is still a lot of life left in two of my previous pairs. The only pair I've managed to wear out went at the heel cuff, not the Goretex, sole or the synthetic leather itself. Truly remarkable footwear when it comes to durability. But its not with copromise to comfort at all. Quite the opposite in fact. They are extremly comfortable right out of the box. A little stiff at first but they relax fairly quickly and mould to the foot well. Being both breathable and waterproof because of the Goretex fabric 'sock' makes the boot amazingly comfortable. No sweaty feet or 'trenchfoot' after walking outside in the rain. You get what you pay for in this world, these are definitly worth the price. Can't praise them highly enough.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I am a little confused by the description. Is this product vegan friendly?**
A: I think the people who make these are largely carnivores. To buy these would be supporting the global meat industry with your cash. Best bet is to cut some boots out of hessian sack. That way, you can become even more of an example and role model for your co-believers. Merrell are after all, a big fat capitalist company who make exceptional boots. I have two pairs and neither is made from leather……😉

**Q: these waterproof? reviews seem mixed, id be using these merrell in wet and muddy conditions will be suitable?**
A: Mine are fine. Been up to the top of the boot in really.wet and muddy conditions and unless it goes over the top and into the boot then yes they are waterproof. I also managed to give them a good wipe down soon after the walk and they were completely dry ie the water had not penetrated the surface of the boot at all. Gore tex DOES work.

**Q: One of my boots is getting soak inside. This product has warranty?**
A: You have a one year guarantee as a leaking boot is deemed a faulty .
I know because I've just sent a pair back for an instant refund .
I will buy another pair .

**Q: Are these suitable for a long hike? I am doing the Coast to Coast and need the right boots.**
A: Hi
I bought these as my spare pair of boots rather than main pair and have worn them on some longish 20 mile days. They are very comfortable and excellent value, but I have not yet tested them in very wet conditions. They should get you through the coast to coast without a problem. If you can afford a bit more, I would really recommend my main boots which are Scarpa Terra. You can pick these up for £100 to £120 if you shop around and they are in a different league to the Merrells. They are Italian calf skin leather and the most comfortable boots I have owned (on my third pair now). They would be a better choice than the Merrells over rough terrain and are definitely more robust and supportive

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good boots, but not waterproof and beware of US sizing
*by A***R on 3 February 2023*

I have purchased and worn many pairs of Merrell hiking boots in the past, primarily because they have a wide fitting and suit my feet so well. They have good ankle support and are strong and fairly durable. They are good comfortable boots, but prospective buyers need to be aware of certain issues. The first is the size: the boots are US-manufactured and US sizes are quoted. If you are used to UK shoe sizes, then for US-sized footwear you should go up at least one whole size, otherwise they will be too small: i.e. if your UK shoe size is 8, then you should buy at least size 9 Merrells for them to fit, and 9-and-a-half if you plan to wear them with thick socks. If you do this, you’ll be OK. The second issue with this particular design is that the soles often become unstuck after a few weeks or months of wear. This will depend on how much wear and walking you do, but the unsticking of the sole with these Moab 2 boots is usually an eventual issue. The third issue is that the gore-tex material is not really waterproof. They are described as “water resistant” but this is not, in any meaningful sense, true: if you walk in heavy rain you will soon have soaking wet feet. The reason is that gore-tex material allows the foot to breathe, and as it lets in air, it allows water in too. I have tried spray-on and rub-in waterproofing products but nothing works. Merrell do offer waterproof non-gore-tex footwear in their range, so if this is likely to be an issue for you, that’s probably what you should choose. Of course, if you’re planning to walk only in hot, dry conditions then the gore-tex will be ideal. With the above reservations, these are good boots but be aware of the minor shortcomings.
