The Hairy Toe: Classic Halloween picture book that will have you howling with laughter – spooky fun for kids age 4-8

This is a brilliant book. The first time I read it to my class they were deadly silent (not easy with 20 3-4 year olds) and transfixed on the pages and the end page made them all jump, which I loved. They ask for it over and over again, even when I bring in new books they still want this one. They have been walking around saying lines from the book acting it out. If you like books that engage children and create suspense this is the book for you! It takes about five minutes to read, so not long, but perfect for a quick story.

My two year old twins came home from nursery one day, talking about a 'hairy toe'?! I thought my husband had been telling them story's again! After asking my husband and getting no sence, I decided to ask the nursery teacher, it turned out that this was the book they we're reading during 'carpet time'. I decided to purchase the book, as it was nice to see my children interested in books. The book arrived within a couple of days and the looks on my little one's face's was a real picture! They absolutely love this book! It is large and has good illistration, so much so my daughter knows all the words and can read it in sequence just by looking at the pictures! Would highly recommend this book! Well written and just enough to get little minds thinking. Be aware though, it is pretty scary!

I love this book more than I can say! I am a reception teacher and I have terrified 4/5 yr olds with this book for years and it’s still their favourite! I have to buy a new copy every year because they borrow it and it gets wrecked but it’s because they love it!

Parents and nursery workers, if you have read this book to your children, can we agree that this is the equivalent of baa baa black sheep?? I also noticed that the first page seems to be missing a word? I also wondered what chimbley was supposed to be but Google told me it's a dialect form of chimney. It's quite weird because it's actually a fairly scary book if you look at it from a child's point of view so their fascination with the book is completely beyond me. Needless to say, that as a parent and nursery worker myself, I know every single word to this book and think it's hilarious. Super weird but hilarious. WHERES MY HAIRY TOE?? I do wanna know more though. Who is this monster. Is it a monster? Or an overly hairy man that's just losing toes here and there? What's his story, please? Can we get a book on his life? Some of you will think I'm joking but I'm actually serious, I wanna know more....

This is a great book. However, it only seems to be half a story. It could easily be a few pages longer. My children looked perplexed by the sudden ending and lack of knowing what happens next.

Such a funny childrens 'horror' book. The children at my nursery love this story: great onomatopoeia, simple story, and full of suspense and a fun jumpscare at the end. The children I read this to are 2-3 years old and love it!

My 3 year old started telling me this story randomly yesterday and it really made me laugh. I googled it and found that it was this story. She has obviously been reading it in nursery. I ordered it straight away and it arrived today in perfect condition. The look on her face was priceless. I have now spent 40 mins reading it in bed to get her to sleep but she is far too excited to own her favourite story. I don’t mind though, these are the moments! I would definitely recommend :)

A fabulous story. My nursery class were all focused and full of anticipation and excitement for whom the hairy toe belonged to. It’s a popular request to read it again and again now 🤩
