The typical result is a thick paste used for sauces and spreads, pickling vegetables and meats, and mixing with hondashi soup stock, a Japanese culinary staple. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is this product made?**
A: Distributed by Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc., Santa Fe Springs,Ca.  It doesn't say it was made there, but I assume so.  It's OK.... I bought it for a recipe and haven't used much of the rather large bag.  Lasts a long time, thouhh.

**Q: Can you freeze it?**
A: I don't think so. It is fermented. That would destroy any probiotic benefit. Also it should not be put in as a soup base boiling, only simmering. It refrigerates for a long time. I put it in clean jars to use as I need it.

**Q: Nutrition fact label???**
A: That should be shown on Amazon.

**Q: Is this made in Japan?**
A: Thinking that I should know, I was raised by a Japanese woman, and loved her food--always begging for one more bite: my father would have a sandwich, I would have a rice-ball.  Though a little salty at first, this produce mixes well with everything, really, everything and fits my life style, really, fits.
