Star Trek Next Generation Bluetooth Communicator Badge

This thing is so awesome. I have been a huge Trekkie and started watching the series in 2009 before the release of the J.J. Abrams film releases . I began watching Star Trek from the beginning and since then I have seen every series and every movie. I love collecting the books, games, comics, but I also do a lot of collecting of the props and the cosplay pieces. This is what I have been looking for. It puts the fun in functional. It's over all design is good it's a bit on the plastic feel but it does hold up. The magnet is not made for thick shirts; yet I wear a lot off thin shirts so this works. As a cosplayer this does work on my uniform jacket since it's a bit on the lighter weight. I only have my Deep Space Nine uniform from the later part of the series. However, I am working on an early uniform from the Deep Space Nine area. I love being able to play Star Trek Online and jam out with my music in total trek style and make calls on this thing. It makes me feel like I am really a Star Trek officer. The details are spot on. The holes, speaker, and ports are well hidden so you pretty much just see the Delta and that's it. If you look really close the ports, holes and mic are quite obvious but from a far or in front of someone from a short distance these features fade. However, this is one of the best Trek things I own. It came in just today and I am thrilled to pieces. I am as happy as a Tribble right now. There have been a few early versions of chirping combadges but this one tops them all. I am thinking on getting the Section 31 badge too since it would be cool to have both. I still would very much like a Voyager badge too so that way we have three of the chirping badges that have the Bluetooth. I am very pleased with it. I love the little tag on the back of the magnet that says Starfleet Command Mission Certified. I enjoy this detail very much it makes me laugh. It's 1:1 scale and for once not that mirror shine like the QMX badges. I have a few QMX and do not mind those at all. I love my shiny badges. However, I love the carefully crafted detail from the show and how they had a shiny but matte sort of color. I called my mother on this, listened to my music, and toyed around with it. I also love the idea it has a cosplay mode that just gives you the chirp when you don't want it to do the bluetooth. If you want a fun edition to your collection this one is a good one. It makes daily life even more fun. I am all about whimsy and being a complete and total geek and this thing is a Star Trek must for any away mission. Be aware it does have it's flaws but it does indeed meet the standard for an awesome screen accurate piece. I highly enjoy this piece and it's a much welcome part of my collection.

Seems to work as described. The paint DOES wear off remarkably fast. Just in a few minutes of getting to play with it I see the paint is showing signs of rubbing off. I stopped playing with it to avoid making it look worse. The silver paint where I touch it at has visibly thinned and is showing a dark patch in the middle where you touch it the most. But I connected it via blue tooth to my cell phone and it did what it described. Made calls, listened to music, etc. Where the fun came in is when I connected it to my Alexa Show device or a Dot or my Alexa Plus. Using the activated Star Trek Apps on Alexa was great fun! Alexa Beam Me up! Photon Torpedos, Phasers! Warp Drive! The sound effects played over my Alexa Devices and the combadge! With my Dot attached to my 9.1 Surround system and lots of Bass sitting in my Recliner was like sitting in the captains seat! LOTS of fun! Had a good time! Named my DOT "Computer" and the fun kept going. (Geeeze I need a life!) The battery drains fast, but don't judge it by the first charge, First charge? 15 minutes use, second charge? 20 Minutes use, Third Charge? 25 minutes use, fourth/fifth/etc charge 30 to 40 minutes use max if you are just using it sparingly. Playing music it will go for an hour or so, using it with Alexa probably drains it faster since it is always listening and constant connection to BlueTooth. You have to touch it to activate the Com badge Microphone or I suppose it would drain even faster. Cell phone connection was reasonable but only about 30 minutes talking on it. Cell phone stand by was a couple hours but made for short conversations when it came time to use it. All in All a fun toy.

It was a fathers day preset. I can not complain about it. Functionally it works and synced to my iPhone 6 with ease. The audio quality of the speaker is not that great but for the size of it, its no more than I expected. I would not recommend it for daily use because the magnet is not very strong and you may loose it. Wear is at home or design a better method to keep it attached to you shirt. The above comments are just my observations and comments. Do no let them dissuade you from buying it. If you want it and are as big of a Trekie as my self you will LOVE it.

I will start by saying this is a very cool communicator badge. It looks very nice. It functions as described in the features description. It paired easily with my iPhone 17 Max. It auto connects to the phone perfectly. The speaker is loud and clear. The chirp is authentic. It is not a toy, it is a very nice and functional bluetooth receiver. When wearing it looks exactly like the tv series version. However there are weaknesses. The first weakness is the strength of the magnet. It will hold the device to a T shirt. It will hold to a normal thickness shirt but not as strong. If you bump or something causes it to slide it will fall off. In fact that happened to me in a parking lot. I caught the unit but the back plate fell through my shirt and hit the pavement. This caused the small circular magnet to dislodge from the plate and I had to look for it. I found it. It is held to the plate with a double sided tape. There was an easy fix to that problem with a touch of super glue. Now the magnet is bonded to the plate. However that still leaves a weak magnet. I am going to see if a stronger magnet will solve that problem. Small flat circular magnets are available on Amazon. The manufacturer told me this would not hurt the unit. Then there is the issue of battery life. I'm still testing this out. The first time I charged it the battery lasted only a few hours before it began chirping low battery. The second charge seems to last longer but not by much. I am thinking of returning the unit because as I am writing this it is now indicating low battery. The battery does not last long enough to make this a reliable receiver for me. If the manufacturer could improve battery life and improve magnet strength this could be a pretty reliable communication device. I'm disappointed because functional wise it works but the two weaknesses I described are causing me to return it.

Really nice and great for Cosplay. I like the ability to get calls and listen to music with it.

As a life long TNG fan this is perfect! The button is exactly as super sensitive as the show. The Bluetooth speaker and microphone are excellent. The battery life is precisely as described. I love it!

I love the way this is packaged... it's very presentable. The box makes for a decent storage for the communicator pin (though, I would use a bit of plastic between the foam and the item for long storage, as foam will decay after a few years) It comes with clear, and simple instructions, and a charging cable, as well as schematics for the device itself. Now to get to the pin. Looking at the photos of it online, I was afraid it might be too thick, but I was delightfully surprised to find it is almost the EXACT dimensions of the actual prop! (holding it against a screen used prop, I cannot honestly tell any difference in size, or thickness) The quality is amazing. The sound quality is equally amazing. The "chirps" are accurate, and loud enough to be heard. The voice of a caller is the perfect volume, and according to my roommate (who I called) it sounds like I'm talking directly into the phone, and not all "tinny" like so many bluetooth devices tend to sound. So basically, this is fantastic engineering, and at a great price as well! UPDATE: a year later, it's still my favorite phone accessory, and still gets attention... so much so, I even bought another one for a friend!

Bought as a gift for my brother- works well, syncs to phone. My other brother bought one as soon as he saw it work.

As above, it's cool to have as a toy or cosplay accessory. It does indeed work (i.e. it chirps when you get a text message and you can make a call). However, the speaker is way too weak to become a viable communications device you can reply on for daily use. Completely useless outdoors because the street noise would drown out the call. And even indoors, you have to strain to hear the other party unless you are alone in a room.

Fantastic, works great and just like it would on Star Trek. Sound level good, range for connection to mobile good, can't fault it yet. Would recommend.
