No. CM-224 Auto is a paint thickness gauge for metal substrates only: steel/iron (Fe) and aluminum/copper (NFe). Plastic bumpers, carbon fiber, and composites cannot be measured correctly because they don’t support magnetic/eddy current testing.

What does Fe+Zn detection mean?

Fe+Zn detects galvanized steel on ferrous panels. During used car inspection, compare symmetrical parts (left/right fender, doors, quarter panels). They should show the same material type. Different results may indicate a replaced or repaired panel.

Helped me detail better

This helped me determine which areas of my car were high with clear coat and others that had less than the door jambs did! So I was able to do a good compound on areas with etching and excess clear, while being gentle on the regions without much. All in all the car came out well.
