perfect for home assistant
These ESP32 boards work extremely well with Home Assistant. I use them to build a dashboard for my Sprinter van, controlling 8 relays and monitoring temperature. The system is reliable, responsive, and very easy to install. Highly recommended.

Working well so far, programs easily with Arduino IDE
I've only tested one so far, but it is working as expected. I programmed using Arduino IDE without any problems. Using IDE 2.0, after installing ESP boards manager following instructions from Espressif, select ESP32 Dev Module, no need to press/hold any buttons, it just works. The USB connectors on the expansion board are for power only. There is also a 5v 800ma linear regulator on board for use with higher input voltages through the barrel jack. 5v from the expansion board is fed to Vin on the ESP board, which has it's own 3.3v 800mA regulator feeding back to the expansion board. A jumper on the expansion board sets all of the V pins on the board to either 3.3 or 5v for use with your sensors. There are a few issues that prevent me from giving it five stars. One row of pins on the ESP board is soldered on crooked enough that it won't go into a breadboard. It does fit into the socket on the expansion board with a little effort/flexing. The barrel jack is the only connection point for unregulated Vin. It would be nice if there were a couple through holes or screw terminals for Vin. It would also be more useful/universal if it came with all of the headers unsoldered. But overall it's a pretty good way to connect to an ESP32 for prototyping, given there aren't too many options for ESP32 proto boards available.
