Light, Leakproof, and Built for the Trail — The Perfect Mini Flask for Endurance Adventures
First Impression: I picked up the HydraPak SoftFlask for trail running and mountain hikes where carrying gels or liquid fuel can get messy. Out of the package, it feels impressively light and flexible — like a soft balloon made from durable material. The build quality is excellent: welded seams, no chemical smell, and the cap design looks well-engineered for quick access. It’s small enough to fit in a vest pocket or even the waistband of running shorts without bouncing. Real Experience: On the trail, this little flask shines. The soft body collapses as you drink, so there’s no sloshing sound or wasted space — a small detail that makes a big difference on long runs. The bite valve delivers just the right flow, and the wide mouth makes refilling gels or electrolytes easy. Cleaning is straightforward, and the material doesn’t retain odors even after several uses. I’ve dropped it a few times on rocks, and it shows no signs of wear. The only con: if you overfill it, it can be a bit tricky to close tightly until you get used to it. Helpful Conclusion: Perfect for runners, cyclists, and hikers who want a reusable, ultralight way to carry nutrition or hydration. It’s durable, leakproof, and folds down to almost nothing when empty — ideal for minimalist setups. I’d definitely buy another one in a larger size for longer runs.

Cool bottle for dancing at concerts
I get thirsty when I’m dancing. I fill this with water, and I’m able to shove it in my Lululemon belt bag. So far, it’s been really sturdy, and I’ve had no leaks. I look absolutely silly with this on the dance floor, but I don’t care because I’m not trying to dance with a can of water in my hand all night. I like how it shrinks as I drink it. Also, like that it’s super compact when it’s empty, which is how I bring it into venues. I would like it to keep my water colder for longer, but you can’t have everything. 5 stars for quenching my thirst on the dance floor.

Good but hard to open.
I bought the 150 ml flask to replace the hassles energy gels. Gels are expensive, hard to rip open while running, get everything sticky, and if you're running longer than a couple hours, you have to stash sticky empties. So I've converted to maple syrup, and using the hydrapak soft flask. PROS: -Holds 5 oz. That's a lot of energy gel/maple syrup! -Fairly wide mouth, easy to fill, but as it's a soft flask, without a flat bottom, some delicate handling required or will accidentally squeeze contents out before it is capped. -Syrup flows easily through mouthpiece. -It's a soft flask so as I consume the syrup, the flask reduces in size. -Easy to squeeze; colder weather or not, I have no issues getting my energy. -My hands and running vest remain not-sticky CONS: -The only real con for me is the mouthpiece. -It's made of a hard plastic that you twist to open and drink through. It's tight. So sometimes when I go to open it, I accidentally unscrew it. -It doesn't auto-seal after a mouthful, so the flask fills with air before I twist the cap closed. So every time I want to drink, I have to squeeze out a bunch of air. It's a distraction. I may swap out the cap for a bite valve see if it works better. All in all I'm very happy with the flask. My only concern is gauging the amount of gel/syrup needed. I don't want to have too much left over after a run. But that's not the fault of the flask. Not sure if it can be stored in the fridge between runs. Better to use the leftover in a recovery drink. 08/10/22 update. So all in all I'm used to the tightness of the twist cap, and am really enjoying this gel flask. I had thought to swap out the cap for a bite valve one, but as it turns out, my bite valve caps on my other bottles have started to leak when I squeeze the bottles. So now I'm actually thinking of doing it the other way around, and put one of these twist caps on my larger volume bottle, for my drink. I do like this bottle, because the end is tapered, it's easier to quickly stuff back inside my vest or shorts pocket after a drink. Finding the perfect bottle is tough. This comes close for me.

Quick and reliable nutrition flask
Lightweight, well designed, helps to save space and time, cuz you don't need to bring a lot of gels just this single pouch filled with all the nutrition you need, plus will help you save money in the long time, if you make your own gels or nutrition is the perfect pouch to bring it, easy to use, the nozzle has a great quality and can be opened one handed making it super functional. Get a couple of them for long endurance races or triathlon races, that way you can refuel pretty fast.

Wish I had bought earlier
This has been a great alternative to opening up gels individually during a race. Now I put them all in there at once and roughly measure out portions as I go. Easier than tearing apart gels while running. I only need one for my half and room to spare. No issues with lid or leaking. Easy to clean.

Helpful on runs
I had an issue to begin with, but their customer service was awesome. The replacement cap they sent me fixed the issue and it works great.

Design Fail for one-handed use
In hindsight, I should have realized that the design of this flask was going to end in failure for a cyclist. The top nipple is meant be able to unscrewed with your mouth/teeth yet the filling top unscrews the same direction. Guess what happens when you are riding along in a paceline, grab the flask, stick it in your mouth, unscrew a 1/2 turn with your mouth while watching the road, and squeeze?....maple syrup exploding everywhere. It only gets two stars since it will still work for runners/walkers (or bikers at a stop) who are willing to hold the fill top screw cap with one hand and squeeze with the other.
