The advice on the packet of smoked cods roe I bought today advise " Keep Refrigerated "

I have never tried this before. Is it ready to eat, or does it need to be cooked?

Dear Amanda, I had only just started to cook all my food about four years ago, it is more like a hobby now, which I quite enjoy, when I bought the cod roe, I wasn't sure what to do myself, so I dusted it with flour and lightly cooked it, it was fine, I usually buy soft cod roe in small tins as well, I just put that onto toast as it is, or I stick a poached egg on top, which is lovely, my poached eggs are cooked in an item which holds four, and they come out lovely as well, I can't stand that way, where you just put them in water and they look a complete mess, I will be 79 in two months. I want to give it to someone for their birthday on a specific date - how long away will the 'use by' date be from when I order it?

It comes fairly quickly and is packed with a freezer strip with it. Don't remember BBF date but if it was put in fridge immediately think it would be ok for at least 5-6 days. Contact seller for more information.

Is it soft or hard roe(eggs)

Not too soft - I prefer hard roe, so I toast the roe and have it on crackers.
