Best investment that I have made in a long time!
This camera is amazing. Video quality is perfect. Mounts to just about anything you can think of. Endless accessories with great third party support. The available app makes it super easy to edit videos right from my phone. I used this camera to take my vlogging to a new level. This camera has gone through vigorous pew-pew range days, dumpster diving, truck filming, hiking, and home remodeling. It looks brand new.

Triumphing in the Adventure Cam Showdown
In the world of adventure videography, the competition is fierce, especially among top contenders like the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro. However, after extensive testing and comparison, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has emerged as my favorite, surpassing its rivals in key areas that matter most to me: video quality, thermal management, and overall value. When it comes to video quality, the Osmo Action 4 shines brightest. Its footage is crystal clear and rich in color and detail, outperforming the GoPro Hero 12 Black. Whether I'm capturing a sunrise over a mountain peak or the intricate patterns of a rushing river, the Osmo Action 4 delivers superior visual clarity that brings my adventures to life in a way that the GoPro can't match. Thermal performance is another area where the Osmo Action 4 excels. Unlike the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which has struggled with overheating during extended use in my experience, the Osmo Action 4 remains cool under pressure. This reliable thermal management ensures that I can keep recording without interruption, a critical factor when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. While the Insta360 Ace Pro is a formidable contender with its innovative features and impressive capabilities, its higher price point makes it less appealing than the DJI Osmo Action 4. For adventurers who, like me, demand top-notch performance without breaking the bank, the Osmo Action 4 presents a more balanced package of quality, durability, and affordability. The dual-screen design of the Osmo Action 4 is a feature that particularly stands out, offering convenience and flexibility that neither the GoPro nor the Insta360 Ace Pro can match. Being able to frame shots from any angle without additional equipment easily is a boon for solo adventurers. In conclusion, while the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro have their strengths, the DJI Osmo Action 4 ultimately provides the best video quality, thermal performance, and value for money. It's a robust, reliable action camera that has become indispensable to my adventure gear, empowering me to capture and share my experiences with unparalleled clarity and ease. TL;DR: After comparing the DJI Osmo Action 4 with the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro, the Osmo Action 4 is the superior choice for adventure videography. It offers unmatched video quality and thermal performance without the high price tag of the Ace Pro, making it the go-to camera for capturing high-quality, uninterrupted footage of all my explorations.

Great quality at a good price
Great cameras, not a lot to say that hasn't been said, but it's a polished product that is simple to operate but has great results. I picked up three of them for shooting multiple angles for the purpose of extracting performance capture data and they don't disappoint.

DJI Osmo Action Camera Review
Overview The DJI Osmo Action offers excellent performance in a compact, rugged design, making it one of the best action cameras available in its class. It's packed with features that appeal to both casual vloggers and more serious outdoor enthusiasts. With crisp 4K video, impressive stabilization, and a front-facing screen, it competes directly with other action cameras Pros Dual screens make it incredibly versatile, especially for vloggers and content creators. Excellent video quality with 4K recording at 60fps. RockSteady stabilization is top-tier for smooth footage. Rugged and waterproof design, perfect for action-packed environments. User-friendly touchscreen interface. Great for adventurers who need a durable and portable camera. Cons Battery life could be better, especially for extended shooting sessions. The audio can be lacking in high-wind or noisy environments. No live-streaming support directly through the camera (this can be done with the DJI app). No 5.3K or 6K options like some competitors (GoPro Hero 10/11, for example). Final Thoughts The DJI Osmo Action is a fantastic action camera for anyone looking for a versatile, high-quality camera that performs well in both casual and adventurous settings. Its dual screens, smooth 4K video, and rock-solid stabilization make it a strong competitor to other brands, like GoPro. For those who enjoy filming fast-paced sports or capturing everyday adventures, this camera delivers impressive performance in a compact, durable package. The addition of the front-facing screen also gives it a unique edge for content creators who need to monitor themselves while recording. While it does have some minor drawbacks, like battery life and wind sensitivity in audio, overall the DJI Osmo Action provides exceptional value, especially for users looking for an action camera that’s simple to use but packed with high-end features.

GoPro -> DJI
I make Fishing videos and was using a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I had overheating issues, battery issues and freezing issues. I had been researching new GoPros and was disappointed when I heard they still had overheating problems. I've seen DJI Action cameras before so I decided to research. I watched many videos. My conclusion: the DJI doesn't overheat, the batteries last WAY longer AND the magnetic mount is AMAZING. Taking the Action 4 off my neck mount to put on my tripod is a breeze with the magnet and clamps. Such an amazing innovation. I've recorded a total of 6 hours of 4K 60 Ultra Wide and have had 0 issues. The camera has yet to even get hot even after recording for 2 hours straight. I'm impressed. The build quality is good, I like the protective case it comes with and the fact that you can access the USB-C port with the case on. The size of the camera is comparable to GoPro. They're small-ish action cameras. After tax I spent $225 and couldn't be happier. The quality of camera you get for the money you spend is incredible. I'm definitely team DJI now. GoPro lost me when they decided to not fix their issues.. picture and video quality are fantastic on this camera, value for money is amazing. Great camera. Definitely a happy fishing content creator here 👋🏻

Great Go Pro Alternative
After years of using GoPros for our motorsports events, we decided to give the Osmo Action 4 a shot and overall, it’s a solid option with some standout features. The user interface is smooth and intuitive, and the DJI Mimo app works really well and super user friendly. One of the best parts is the magnetic quick-release mount. It’s super convenient with no tools needed, and you can snap the camera on or off in seconds. Perfect for fast mounting inside cars. However, video stability hasn’t quite matched our GoPro experience, especially for in-car footage. The video looks a bit shakier than we’d like, though to be fair, we’re still experimenting with settings. It may just need some tweaking to dial it in. What We Like: Clean, easy-to-use interface Excellent app experience Magnetic mount is fast and hassle-free Good build quality What Could Be Better: Stabilization isn’t quite there (for in-car motorsports use) Slight learning curve if you're used to GoPros Overall, a great camera with a lot to offer. If you’re looking for something user-friendly with quick mounting and don’t mind fine-tuning the settings, the Osmo Action 4 is definitely worth trying.

Outstanding Image Quality, Rock-Solid Stabilization, and Pro-Level Performance
I’ve used several lower end action cameras over the years, and the DJI Osmo Action 4 immediately stands out for its image quality, low-light performance, and stabilization. Video & Image Quality: The larger sensor makes a noticeable difference, especially in mixed or low-light conditions. Footage looks sharp, natural, and well-balanced without overly aggressive sharpening. Colors are accurate right out of the camera, and D-Log M gives plenty of flexibility for those who want to color grade. Even fast motion stays crisp. Stabilization: RockSteady stabilization is excellent. I’ve used it handheld and mounted, and the footage remains smooth without looking artificial. HorizonSteady is especially impressive when the camera rotates — the horizon stays locked and usable. Audio: Audio quality is better than expected for an action camera. Wind reduction works well, and voices remain clear without sounding muffled. Pairing with external mics or DJI wireless options is easy if you need higher-end audio. Design & Usability: The dual touchscreen setup is incredibly useful for framing shots, especially when mounting the camera in awkward positions. The magnetic quick-release system is solid and makes switching mounts fast and secure. Menus are intuitive, and the camera boots quickly. Battery Life: Battery performance has been strong, even in cooler conditions. I was able to record extended clips without overheating or rapid drain, which has been an issue with some other action cams I’ve used. Cons: • The companion app could be a bit faster when transferring large files • Accessories are good, but some mounts are sold separately • Do not recommend using any 1tb EVO micro SD cards as they tend to cause the camera to heat up quickly which could result in the camera shutting down and missing that perfect shot. 512 mb is acceptable. Overall: The DJI Osmo Action 4 feels like a refined, professional-grade action camera that works equally well for casual users and serious creators. If you’re filming outdoor activities, travel, motorsports, or anything involving motion, this camera delivers reliable, high-quality results. Highly recommended.

Versatile top quality action cam!
Great action cam! Amazed by the quality of the recordings, the possible settings and the supporting iOS software to sync, edit and manage and publish photos, videos and streams. Glad I did not go for cheap “GoPro rip-offs”, but for this DJI Osmo Action 4 with competing top quality at a good price point. Plenty of mounting and lighting accessories to do any type of interior and outdoor recording. Great alternative to use in harsher context next to a more vulnerable and expensive iPhone 16Pro. Used it extensively in sub-tropical, wet and underwater conditions (28M depth, together with underwater housing). Eyeballing the 6, now that it came out, but the differences in specs and pricing are not convincing me (yet) to sell this one and purchase that one.

Excellent video quality and rugged reliability for motovlogging.
I have been using the Action 4 for a fair while now, motorcycle vlogging on YouTube. It is far and away the best action camera I have used. It is feature rich, solidly constructed, produces great quality video with excellent color and dynamic range, and best of all--It doesn't glitch like so many other cameras. I love the magnetic clip style mounting system. It takes all of 2 seconds to mount or remove from my helmet. I use the DJI audio adapter to connect to the mic in my helmet. The sound quality is excellent and fully adjustable in Db level. Exposure control is quite in depth using auto or manual modes, and the interface is intuitive making it easy to change settings. You can also create custom user settings saved in memory to quickly switch between preferences. I do wish the battery life was double what it is, but to be fair, most competitors are similar if not worse in that regard. My last camera had a 6 hour battery life but the video quality was nowhere near this, so I'll accept less battery life for a superior end result. Just have to plan ahead and have a spare battery handy. Note: order the combo if available or at least order the battery pack accessory with the camera. You'll be glad you did.
