Will Keep my trick-or-treaters from trip-and-treating themselves to my homeowner’s insurance
They came just in time to keep my trick-or-treaters from trip-and-treating themselves to my homeowner’s insurance. Installation was super easy — everything clicked together cleanly, and the wiring had plenty of length for flexible placement. (If it came down to it, making your own extension cable would be a breeze.) The lights look great, and the dynamic effects really elevate the front steps. They feel solid, well-built, and brighter than I expected for the price. My only gripe is pairing with Matter — I thought these supported Matter or Thread, but setup didn’t go smoothly. But, setup with WiFi was rather simple, and they work pretty seamlessly! Otherwise, it’s a definite score. For the price, you get premium looks, smart control, and peace of mind knowing your walkway’s lit and safe.

5/5 Hardware — 0/5 Software
Hardware is 5/5 — It is metal and substantial. The software is 0/5 because if it cannot be connected to my network after changing networks. I have 2.5Ghz, strong signal, new/modern everything. My other WiZ lights are fine. However, this one cannot connect manually or via bluetooth despite it making a connection initially (because lights change from blue'ish to normal). I tried 20x different times with different settings to no avail. WiZ support was useless. Lights are now installed but cannot be controlled except for on/off from the power source.

Great Driveway Lighting.
I love this product. Very bright and can be linked to more lights and all controlled by the Wiz app.

A substantial light. Take care where you place it.
I have a number of thoughts about this light (and lighting system) from Wiz, a branch of Philips, the Dutch electronics company that also makes Hue lighting products. 1) It's well made. The shaft, stake for placing in ground and black light surrounds are all metal. It's not heavy, but it's sturdy enough to last for a number of years. I especially like that the stake is metal rather than cheap plastic-and that it's long enough to secure the light fairly well in soil 2) There are two ways to fasten the light down. One is the aforementioned metal stake. The other is a metal ring at the bottom of the light which can be removed screwed down to wood or concrete. and then the light reattached via three screws through the bottom side of the light's shaft. I am not a fan of this second system of attachment. The mounting screws are all contained in a base no wider than the light and the three screws are inset from the outer edge--meaning that there is a verv narrow base of attachment for this light. Don't mount it anywhere you have children walking--or for that matter any traffic at all--because it won't take much of a bang to break this light's base or to knock it out of the surface it's mounted in if you usethe screw-down mounting method. 3) The light has a variety of white temperatures, but only white. It goes from 2700K warm to very cold. 4) Dimming is great. The light can go from very bright to very dim. 5). Despite being made by Philips which also makes Hue lighting, unlike Hue lights this light does not require a hub but attaches directly to your wifi. 6) The clear lens for the light is plastic--seemingly like the substantial plastic used for car headlights. 7) The app is straightforward and easy to use. There is a Wiz app--you can't use the Hue app. 8) Works with Matter, but needs a Matter controller in your house to be controlled by Matter. 9) This is a pretty expensive light. But it's well made. I don't know what to say about the value proposition. You can get substantial lights like this for one-third the price from no-name Chinese manufacturers. But there's something to be said for going with a world-renowned lighting supplier. The quality of your parts, the readability of the directions. the support and ability to buy accessories is so much better from Philips...

It’s So Cool, I Don’t Want To Get It Dirty From Being Outside. Phantom Power Draw
I was leery about selecting this, but it seemed so cool, that I decided to go ahead and commit. I am not too sorry, as this is as cool as the listing depicted it. However, it’s a lot bigger than I anticipated, it’s massive next to standard outdoor lighting. Size Stands about 20½” above ground. The lighting (bulb) area itself is about 4” tall and about 4¼” in diameter. Pole The pole it sits on is about 16” tall, and the base has a diameter of about 3¼” and the pole itself is about 2.35” in diameter. Looks This looks like a miniature streetlamp. It’s big, rugged, durable, and handsome. Its modern looking and can be very bright or dialed down to a glow. The goofy thing about this is set-up The goofy thing is that setting this up is like the old-fashioned exterior lighting, by way of a massively large metal stake of just over 8” long and about 1” in diameter. That part of this light, i.e., is not so impressive. Also, there does not appear to be an option to install this into stone or concrete – I would have to be creative to do that. The goofiness does not stop Also, from what I can tell, there is no apparent ability to hardwire this in. So, I must manually go outside and turn this on, and it only broadcasts white, or make sure I have connected this and control it by way of its App. App The App does not require my fingerprint, picture ID and personal information, so I am okay with that; but it’s another app. I have too many now. No remote I would have liked to have had the option of a remote control, because maybe I have too many Apps on my phone as it is. Even my children’s fancy night light has a remote control that offers me the option of multiple colors, music, and stars. A single “Bollard?” I call this landscape lighting; WIZ calls this a Bollard. What is a Bollard? That those short posts used to create a protective or architectural perimeter. You know, those metal poles filled with concrete that are planted in front of stores to stop people driving through the store’s doors. Or the fancy one’s with lights that are about waist to chest high. This would fall into the fancy group with the light but are only knee high. Fancy name, fancy price. Hmm, I am struggling with the value that these offer me. I think a better value would have been two (2) at this price point. The waste Additionally, and I really dislike this about this light, is that there is a phantom power draw of about ¾ of a watt. So, ¾ of a watt, over a (24) hour period is (18) watts a day. Over a week, that’s 126 watts a week. Over a 52-week period, that’s (6,552) watts, i.e., (6.55)kWh a year, just in a phantom power draw. I live in an area that has outrageously expensive electricity costs. So, just keeping this plugged in, at about 45 cents a kWh, I am paying about $3 a year just on phantom power draw. Is that a lot? No, but I really dislike the idea of phantom power draws, it’s a plain waste – multiply that by users worldwide. I would have hoped that the engineers at WIZ, which is a subsidiary of Signify – a world leader in lighting – oh, by the way, Philips is also a Signify subsidiary – so these are no slouches, I would have hoped that a phantom power draw could have been eliminated, but maybe not, since this is connected by Wi-Fi, nevertheless, it’s a small disappointment for me. How much power does this use? Near five (5) watts on full power and about (1) watt on low power – then that phantom draw. Country of origin? Made in China Performance I think it’s a novel, open, airy light that performs as advertised. Use There are several uses, indoor is a possibility, however, its primarily for outdoor use and I selected this as exterior lighting Part of collection? Yes. Dimmable? Yes. Wet rated? Yes. Mounting style? Ground mount Mounting weight? Around 4 LBS. ETL listed? Yes, I appreciate that. ETL is one of the most extensive independent testing, inspection, and certification partners that handles consumer products of all types for safety and functionality. ETL/UL Certification There is an ETL certification on the light. That’s a positive, for me. I prefer certification. An ETL or UL certification is a third-party organization’s mark to certify the product [that it meets certain standards, for instance UL – that’s important for electrical whatever’s]. Having UL/ETL Marks are proof of product compliance to North American standards. Ask any electrical inspector. A product with UL or ETL Listed Marks are proof of product compliance to published industry standards, to me, it’s a symbol of safety. Like my refusal to be driven in a speeding car that has no seat belt; I will not use anything electrical that has not passed muster by a third-party organization, such as ETL/UL/CSA. It’s just common sense on a safety issue. Is certification required? A certification isn't a requirement to sell an electronic device in the US. But do I really want to trust a device that the manufacturer did not want a third-party to certify? Typically, certifications are noted. Again, I DO see an ETL certification on this lighting, hooray. I hope my thoughts added information.

Easy to install
I ordered this Wiz Wi-Fi LED Smart Color Changing Elpas Bollard Path Light Starter Kit - Pack of 1 - Outdoor - Weatherproof - Control with Wiz Connected App - Works with Google Home, Alexa and Siri Shortcuts and I love it! Especially now with Christmas. Our entire neighborhood is lit up with outside decorations, but we don't really have the time or knowhow to hang lights all over our house and yard. With this bollard, I can make my front porch green and red, and we're not the only house that doesn't have any holiday cheer. This lamp also works great with our network. We have our second Asus Zenwifi router in our front room, so our network goes all the way past our porch to our drive and the Bollard connects without issue. My husband is the one who installed it, and this is what he has to say: I decided to test out this light where my walkway meets my front porch, as I wanted a light where the step is. It was easy to install; pretty much, just plug it in and place it in the ground where you like. It is also sturdy and seems to be made well. It gives off more than enough light for my needs. I like the fact that I can move the light very easily when I am doing yard work; I don't have to worry about accidentally damaging it. The app works just fine with it; at least there have been no issues thus far. It is recommended for anyone who wants a decent light in the yard.

Premium Design and Features
A premium, well constructed bollard light. The light is controlled (brightness, color, etc.) via the WiZ V2 app, and so you would get the most value out of this light as part of other WiZ products. (However, it does support a standard called "Matter," so if you're familiar and wanted to go that route it could be part of a multi-vendor lighting system.) I'm just using the WiZ app, though, and love that this light can do so many things. Different colors and brightness levels, as well as dynamic (i.e., changing) color schemes are easily selected via the WiZ app. In terms of physical design, it's lightweight, but appears to be sturdy and able to handle the outdoors. There are two options to install/secure - 1) screwing down to a flat surface, or 2) using an included (metal) spike to hold it in a lawn or softer ground.

Good Starter Lighting Kit
I get that their objective is to have you buy multiples of these. But I was content to order just one. Just because that's all we needed as a marker to help people get onto the private road on our land (one particular entrance at least). Easy to get it started. And no problems with maintaining it. Good selection of colors to choose from.
