The long pin design allows you to keep the flame far from your hands, Great for lighting camp fires or candles on a cake. I have kept the flame on for a bit over a minute, continuously so far without any failure or noticeable deterioration. Outside housing did not get as hot as other version I have tried. Fairly wind resistant as i expect most butane torch lighters to be. Works reliably, usually lights on the 2nd or 3rd click. I really like the latching switch below to slide button too. It makes it easier to use it with some finesse, and give you better control. Looking forward to trying it out on some ice, wood, or foam to see what kind of 3D mold and designs I can pull off. Easy to fill, doesn't spew out the side like the cheap ones do, dripping all over my hands. The clear tank window is very helpful to tell when you have it full. Instructions say it takes 5 seconds to fill, I found it to be about 20 seconds though. 5 seconds got it about a third full. --UPDATE-- So there is a limit to its continual use. Seems to be about 2 minutes till the outer housing gets soft. 3 minutes when its starts deforming on its own. I melted the upper outer shell when working with a beeswax candle.
