Double thickness corrugated cardboard box. And guitar is enclosed in a thin padded-foam shipping bag within the box. Mine arrived without a scratch.

Beginner. I'm a 5'11" man with a gut. Feels like dreadnought is putting fretting hand in a bad position. Would the concert model work for me?

Yes, I'm also 5'11" with a gut and this guitar is the exact reason I bought it. I have a takamine and sometimes my gut gets in the way of me reaching the frets correctly so I bought this guitar. I like it, easy to play but have to admit I haven't played it much in the last year. Been too busy with work and everything else.
