Tarzan [DVD] [2014]

Region 2 format, NOT AMERICAN. This is an EXCELLENT 3D film as well as a young family entertainment. The 3D is very rich in color and detail, rendered properly even. Nice storyline. Amazing how they got the characters to emote quite well. There is a slight level of the old stiff bodies to the 3D animation, but that kind of makes this movie more stylized, because they make up for the minor flaw by their emotion that show through. No sex, drugs, major violence, or sleaze to grab a cheap attention span. This film is wholesome, clean quality entertainment for a young family. Please make MORE films like this!

I must admit, that having caught the trailer for this movie on Youtube last year, I wasn't at all sure about the look of this new CGI Tarzan. A bit too 'surfer-dude' for my liking, but having now watched the full movie I can honestly say "Excellent Dude!" I've been saying for ages that with modern CGI they could make a really terrific Tarzan movie, and here we have it. I didn't imagine that they would animate all the human characters too, but yes it really worked for me. As for the humans, imagine if Gerry Anderson had progressed from his Thunderbird/Captain Scarlet puppets and was now making CGI animated movies. The motion-capture is superb and within minutes you are totally immersed into this fantastical adventure. The jungle and landscapes are to die for, and do not suffer from any comparison with the 'Avatar' movie. I do hope they continue to make more adventures of this new animated Tarzan. I'm hooked!

This is a German animated film and a pretty good one It's about Tarzan of course and they do a good job with the story. The animation is of course not as great as a Hollywood film but it's not bad at all. The 3d blu ray looks great and this was filmed in 3d so it's a very good 3d experience. if you collect 3d films then this one is worth owning for sure. And if you like Tarzan then you will like this story as well. This is much more lush than anything Germany has ever put out and that's a good thing. The blu ray has a 2d version as well which cannot compare to the 3d one in depth and power.

After reading the negative reviews about this film on Amazon I nearly didn't purchase this film, but so glad I did, People seem to comparing this version to the Disney version. Firstly it isn't a disney film so don't expect it to be the same. I enjoy the story of Tarzan and how he was brought up living amongst the Apes until he meets his Jane, great version of the film, great animation, and great narration at the beginning of the film too explaining the story as it starts. I will definitely watch this again and would definitely recommend to children and adults, as long as your not expecting the characters from Disney and Phil Collins to start singing halfway through, just enjoy it for what it is, you won't be disappointed :-)

Je possède environ près de 30 films de Tarzan, dont 2 dessins animés, et je dois dire que j'ai été étonné par la qualité et le réalisme de l'image de ce Blu-ray 3D, qui parfois nous faisait oublié qu'elle était de synthèse. Quoi n'ayant rien à voir avec le roman de Edgar Rice Burroughs, sortant de l'ordinaire, l'histoire est intéressante, et mes petits-enfants de 12 et 15 ans ont adoré.

great price for a good cartoon

I live in the USA but ordered this 3D movie from Amazon Germany. Nothing in Amazon's description says I could play this on my two year old Sony 3D Blu-ray player, but I loved this movie so I thought I would take a chance. I'm glad I did...Except for the main menu being in German, I was able to play this movie (both 2D and 3D versions) with no issues. The menu is very basic and easy to figure out even if you don't know German. The only thing you need to know is to select the language (English DTS-HD 5.1) in the menu titled "Einstellungen" (Settings in German). Then you are all set to watch this great movie. The only thing that I can't get to play is the Extras menu (Making of and Interviews). I can select it, but it just pops back to the menu without playing the extra. But I CAN play the trailer. As for the movie...This is state of the art animation. Don't let the detractors sway you. And on top of the film looking great, the musical score is rich and moving. This is a fantastic story and movie. I highly recommend it.

Un classico rivisitato in chiave un pò più moderna, ma resta comunque bello da vedere. Super consigliato!
