Metal is cold and could damage your wrists. The black aluminium is slightly brushed and nice to touch.Don't be frightened by the 'Strg' key in the photos - mine came with 'Ctrl' keys. Works perfectly fine in England :-).The extra functionality keys are very limited and enough - Volume Down, Volume Up, Mute, Sleep. You don't really need anything else. Keep it simple.I've been using this keyboard since 2010 and it has been worth every penny. Excellent feedback. An audio controller. Two USB ports. One downside was that I had to get a new one as there was sugary spillage once and I did not like sticky keys. And one of the USB ports stopped working for whatever reason.On Linux the audio controller is called 'Planet UP-100, Genius G-Talk' and is supported out the box on Ubuntu 14.04.The cable is quite long and has a power connector as well if you want your keyboard to supply extra power to your USB devices. It is USB 2.0, not 3.0.Key reason for getting this keyboard was that it would be stable. And it is very stable. Zero flexing. It is hands down the best keyboard I have ever used.
