Can I use this on stone like hard river rock?

So far I have only used it on glass and clay/ceramic. I would strongly advise if you do try it, use water to help with the friction. It says that you can use it on stone , gemstones, rocks, and pebbles. Hopefully that answers your question

I have a dewalt drill with 3/8 in chuck its perfect.

I can't tell you in exact dimensions how thick the coating of the cutters are. I can tell you that I cut a hole through a substantial hi-power electrical insulator big enough to run a 120-v plug through. Before using these bits-nothing could touch the ceramics it was made of. The secret to success is to run water on the project while drilling.
