Laser Tree for 3018
I bought this to add the laser capability for my 3018 CNC. The module was easy to mount as you replace the router spindle and slide the laser module in. I highly recommend buying the LASER TREE 20W 40W 80W Interface Adapter Board Transfer Board and the COOLM 12V 4A Power Adapter AC 100-240V to DC 12V 4000mA Power Supply 48W Adapter. The board was needed because my motherboard would not supply the wattage needed for the laser and the adapter corrected this. To use the adapter, you will need the correct cable to go to the adapter board from your motherboard, then use the supplied cable from Laser Tree to go from the adapter board to the laser. The adapter also solves the problem of going from 2 pins on the motherboard to 3 pins on the laser if your mother board is equipped that way. I have engraved many items and hope this lasts a long time. I have engraved tumblers; tile coasters and wood plaques and the laser has always had enough power to get the job done.

Check the pinout before to buy.
Is easy to use, but you need to check the cnc3018 driver. The driver's pin assignment was not the same than as the laser. Therefore, i needed to swap the cables. I don't know what would have happened if I had changed the cables incorrectly.

Works great
What a great idea. This laser is designed to be used in 3018 cnc machines that have a 42mm diameter motor. The pro versions tend to have 52mm motors. It will still work but you'll need to make your own shim to mount it. This connects to your controller using an included 3 pin cable. (+12V, Ground, PWM signal) The cooling fan comes on whenever the 12V is on. It comes with an air nozzle and hose. You'll need to supply your own air pump. I recommend using an air pump if for nothing else than to keep the lens clean from smoke. Ignore any references to "80W". Nothing with this laser uses 80W. The optical output is rated at 10W using two 5W LED lasers with a beam joiner. The included 12V power supply is 48W. I was able to easily cut out a model airplane rib from balsa wood. It comes with clear plexiglass pieces that help set the beam focus. It's a little different depending on whether you're cutting or engraving.

Great Laser
I bought this to replace a 5w laser that stopped working. This module works better than expected. The only Issue I had was that the cable that came with it was not wired correctly, I used the cable from the other laser. Would recommend this product.

Didn't fit my 3018
It came in on time and looked to be well built. I tried to install it on my 3018 pro max and it was about 3/4" to small in diameter to fit the holder. Amazon made it easy to return.

Descent laser module but MISS LEADING listing...
I've reviewed many lasers over the last few years, actually when they started to become very popular. Back then, almost all of them was shady and miss leading listings. Most laser companies these days are doing it right now, but sadly this company or seller is still being shady. I say shady because they list this as a "80W Laser Module", which it is NOT. The 80W is the input, NOT the output. They do give the output, 10W, but that does not make it okay in my book. Why would they list the input first? Because practically no one cares. It means next to nothing for most people. To me they are doing it to miss lead people and/or to get searches. In both cases it is WRONG. Either way it's a waste of people time. The module itself is pretty well made. It does seem like quality. I do not have the CNC this was made to go on, I will be installing it on the CNC I have. Oddly, this does not come with any mounting bracket or anything, which seems strange. It does have built in air assist, including a metal nozzle, which is a nice feature. I also i also like how the shield is held on with magnets, though, wondering if it's going to stay on. The more I think about it, what if this comes off while the machine is working and the laser gets stuck, that could be a fire. I never leave my laser unattended, but it doesn't take long for something bad to happen. So far with limited testing, it works good and does seem to be 10W output. As I use it more, I will update this if anything changes. I like that it is 12V, easier to get working. It's a real shame, if they were not trying to trick people I would give this 5 stars or close. Their loss I guess. Would not recommend this. I don't encourage listings like this.
