Awesome skimmer - but watch out for manufacturer defect!
Purchased this Skimmer to replace a Seaside Aquatics hang on skimmer that had continuous leaks, to the point where I had floor damage and wall damage.First I do want to say that the Skimmer I received leaked right away, the moment I put water in it. It had a defect on the Pump where the water went out into the tube. There is a separate piece that screws into the bottom of the tube, and onto the pump. The leak was coming from neither of the O-rings that were visible, and no matter how tight I was able to get it - it leaked. Well, l was able to seal it with some Toyota FIPG (basically anything-resistant). Waited one day for it to dry. When I assembled it and beta tested my repair, it was leak free! I did contact Eshopps, but it was after hours and I left a message. Never did get a call or email back.Aside from the manufacturer defect that it had, this skimmer works great! its quiet, fits nicely onto the tank. Was easy to assemble and operates like a dream. Unlike my last skimmer. I wish I had this skimmer a long time ago.

so the HOB model is great! Even though I have had the older model ...
After trying various skimmers over the years, I decided a few years ago to try the PSK 100h because this skimmer seemed to suit my needs perfectly. I don't have a sump, no room, so the HOB model is great! Even though I have had the older model for about 4 1/2 years, it worked great for me. In fact I just replaced the old skimmer with a new PSK 100h skimmer on my main tank and put the older model on a new tank.No problems at all. I have read that people have had problems with this unit overflowing, yep any skimmer can overflow but this one is easy to adjust. You have to be vigilante and stand there for a few minutes and move the flow tube until you get the right water level in the skimmer.Other than that this skimmer started pulling skimmate out within an hour. It's quiet and I have had no microbubbles in the tank at all. I even took the bubble sponge off the outflow, I have found that it gets clogged easily and caused backflow into skimmer. I have 20+ years in the saltwater hobby and I will say this - use some common sense, it's acrylic not steel for those who keep saying parts break when they adjust things, keep an eye on the unit ( adjustments are quick and easy ), as for set up yep instructions could use some improvement but there are online videos that can help quite a bit. Overall, a great skimmer

Mesh sponge on output tube clogging.
****UPDATE****Skimmer began malfunctioning. Eshopps sent a new impeller. Replaced impeller, and the unit still doesn't work properly. I assume it's the actual SICCE pump that's broken.Removed unit and replaced with Reef Octopus. BIG DIFFERENCE.This unit is trash. If you want to throw away some money, feel free to buy. Otherwise, I recommend looking elsewhere.****************************************************************Requires constant adjustments. The unit has overflowed three times in less than 3 months. The overflow hose is set to release back into the aquarium, so it doesn't make a mess on the floor or lower the water level in the tank.It overflows because the mesh sponge on the output tube gets clogged. Rinsing the sponge with tap water, seems to work though not functioning quite the same way as when new. Removing the mesh sponge is not an option because the skimmer needs the sponge in order to foam properly.Water changes also affect the skimmer. The foam sponge needs to sit about a half inch above the water level, and it should be connected about 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch lower on the output tube.During the first few weeks, it worked perfectly. It was skimming quite a bit of waste in the collection cup.

Great, but you need to tinker with it.
This is great, but with caveats. It arrived with a crack where one of the tubes connects to it. Rather than send it back, we used acrylic cement to repair it and it works fine with a 5 dollar fix. Amazon compensated us for that. Set up is a cinch, but don't yank too hard on it... those tubes really do feel like they might break off if you bang them the wrong way. It skims wonderfully. Once we had it going (about 10 minutes of set up, so super easy) I couldn't believe how much crap was in our water.Cleaning it out is simple. Just pull off the cap and dump it somewhere far, far away, because skimmer gunk is foul and stinky. We did a massive water change not long after installing it and our nitrate levels have stayed very, very low every since (HOORAY!!!)This skimmer is a very good balance of price and performance, and I'd buy it again.

Great skimmer!!!
I received this 2 days ago. Simple to set up and get going. As with all skimmers minor tweaking needed. I had light colored skim in 12 hours. I put this on my seahorse tank. absolutely NO micro bubbles entering the tank. Which is great. My previous skimmer blew micro bubbles all over the place and took 2 weeks to break in.This skimmer is super quiet and made of durable thick acrylic. The pump is super quiet also. Simple uncomplicated design. Hangs on back of my 20 gallon tank and fits perfectly. I just love it so far and my little ponies love it too. I highly recommend this skimmer.running 2 days I will update if I have to. So far very pleased.

Not buying Eshopp anymore.
I saw a lot of good reviews about this skimmer on another site so I went ahead and got this.Upon opening the box I cringed, although the picture makes it look nice and durable, the tube that holds the water is acrylic, however the plastic parts around it are that type of plastic you get when you don't care if the item breaks or cracks after one or 2 uses.I got it all setup and attached to my and was pretty happy when I turned on the pump, so quiet! (which is why I am giving it 2 stars) BUT, half way filled up, I hear SNAP! and the connector that holds the thing stable against the tank had completely snapped off.Normally, I would just jerry rig it and be all right (which would have cost me the extra few bucks instead of them in spending the extra money on more durable material), but the cost of it, and how irritated I was thinking, "why not just make the whole thing out of acrylic instead of trying to save a few bucks and get cheap plastic instead", I tossed it back in the box and returned it.I feel dumb buying from Eshopps, every single thing I have bought from them broke within less then a week, not sure why I gave them this chance but it is the last.

Brilliant skimmer with new Italian made pump!
I recently had issues with keeping my 40 gallon reef tank clean. Even with frequent water changes and careful feeding, I was getting bad algae blooms and high nitrates. After some investigation I realized my old in-tank protein skimmer from Fluval was just not cutting it.After some research I settled on the PSK-100H and I am so glad I did! Starting it up was easy, just follow the directions found on this video:http://youtu.be/807i-WfAUhQThe trick is to add several cups of tank water to the skimmer body until you fill up not only the body but the intake and output pipes as well. This primes the skimmer so it doesn't overflow.Doing this, my skimmer primed and started producing a very good, dark skim almost immediately.

It's a ok skimmer
Lots of microbubble in the beginning after 2 weeks no bubble looks bad behind the tank because it sticks out a big portion and plumbing looks kind a bad appearance vise. It does skimm on my 65 gallon salt water. Not so powerful land not very quite either. Little louder than my fluval 406 filter. By the way ehiem Classic is the best filter you have to put your hand on to find out it's working. Fluval 406 no good. Because of the price of this skimmer is good. Instruction are bad basically no instruction they know we will figure it out some how. Need to register in 2 weeks to get warranty. I missed mine so IDK what will happen if breaks. It's will be good for sump not as a hang on. I will post more comments later
