It had a defect on the Pump where the water went out into the tube. There is a separate piece that screws into the bottom of the tube, and onto the pump. The leak was coming from neither of the O-rings that were visible, and no matter how tight I was able to get it - it leaked. Well, l was able to seal it with some Toyota FIPG (basically anything-resistant). Waited one day for it to dry. When I assembled it and beta tested my repair, it was leak free! I did contact Eshopps, but it was after hours and I left a message. Never did get a call or email back.Aside from the manufacturer defect that it had, this skimmer works great! its quiet, fits nicely onto the tank. Was easy to assemble and operates like a dream. Unlike my last skimmer. I wish I had this skimmer a long time ago. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great skimmer, great price *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2013* First one had a crack at the base, got it replaced quickly. Second works great but as with all h.o.b. skimmers I've used it can be a little touchy. DO NOT USE the filter pad on the return tube. It will clog, slow the flow out and cause flood. Happened to me, had to get a new tank stand because it soaked the stand and ruined the particle board. (my fault for using cheap wood-like products but it was free to me). There is no filter on the intake, which is fine because it would quickly clog with all the particles flowing you are running the skimmer to remove in the first place. Problem is things swim up there and clog up the pump; like snails or in my case a young clown who tried to pull a Nemo only to get ground to itty bitty fishy pieces. I recommend you put the intake inside an overflow box, this will help skim the surface and prevent unwanted intake of livestock. Just get a cheap premade box online and silicon it to the tank around where you have the skimmer intake. I recommend test fitting it by holding it in place to make sure it is getting enough flow for the skimmer without draining completely. I would say at least a 700gph flow rate. None of these are issues unique to Eshopps though. Hang on products just require a little more thinking when setting them up. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Mesh sponge on output tube clogging. *by O***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2016* ****UPDATE****Skimmer began malfunctioning. Eshopps sent a new impeller. Replaced impeller, and the unit still doesn't work properly. I assume it's the actual SICCE pump that's broken.Removed unit and replaced with Reef Octopus. BIG DIFFERENCE.This unit is trash. If you want to throw away some money, feel free to buy. Otherwise, I recommend looking elsewhere.****************************************************************Requires constant adjustments. The unit has overflowed three times in less than 3 months. The overflow hose is set to release back into the aquarium, so it doesn't make a mess on the floor or lower the water level in the tank.It overflows because the mesh sponge on the output tube gets clogged. Rinsing the sponge with tap water, seems to work though not functioning quite the same way as when new. Removing the mesh sponge is not an option because the skimmer needs the sponge in order to foam properly.Water changes also affect the skimmer. The foam sponge needs to sit about a half inch above the water level, and it should be connected about 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch lower on the output tube.During the first few weeks, it worked perfectly.
