Formotion CA-35820 Black Face 35mm 360 Moto Compass with Chrome Case

Compass was fine initially but after a few months the glass turned black making it unreadable and useless. The black developed over time and was not on the outside. It was mounted on a motorcycle.

I agree with a few others that this compass is all but useless on a bike. I mounted it numerous places but cannot find a location that the needle doesn't bounce around and vibrate horribly- even though it is fluid filled. It is simply impossible to read when driving. There are no electromagnetic interference devices on my bike. I am also not very fond of the mounting bracket (I did purchase the handlebar mount too). I suppose it might be useful as a navigation tool if I pulled over along side the road and shut off my motorcycle, but what's the point? I would not recommend this to a friend (or anyone else).

Mounted on my BMW R1200RT, it normally give me dcnt direction info, but sometimes starts just spinning aound and ending in some random direction. Marginally useful.

It's good to know where you're going on a motorcycle, but motorcycles seem to have more magnetic interference generators on 'em than most cars, so if you want a bike compass, this is really the only option. The mounting system as supplied is ok - and the black-painted, brass bracket supplied SHOULD be used, though I added a Kuryakyn handlebar clamp to my Sportster installation. The compass is extremely well shielded from all the EMF generated by my electronic speedo, and so far appears quite accurate - though it also has E/W & N/S compensator adjustments if you actually need to "swing" your compass. And it doesn't need power supplies or batteries like a GPS... The only fly in the viscous damping fluid is that I was sent one with a White compass ball, where a Black one would have been better. Looks like I'll order another - in Black - then sell this one. All in all - the ideal navigational accessory for any biker.

Fast. Just what I wanted. Now my wife knows where she is going. Easy to install. Compass is off about 5 degrees after setting it, but I would expect that whith a compass in this price range.

Does not work well and is easily interfered with by normal wiring on the handle bars. I have tried moving it to several positions with no success. Might be okay on other bikes but. Did not work on my Harley.

although it was helpful for a while, it needed calibration. eventually the plastic calibration screws stripped, and i removed it from my motorcycle, and finally disposed of it. i can understand using plastic components in a compass, but i found keeping this item accurate, to be frustrating, and would not suggest it as a purchase. I found an android program for my cellphone called smart compass that is maintenance free. surely there are comparable programs for other cellphones. this is a better answer.

I tried mounting in several locations on my bike. I never found a location where the vibration didn't affect it. When the bike is in motion the compass jumps around and is unreadable in spite of the fluid inside. It is only marginally useful with the bike in motion.
