I’ve no hesitation in saying I expect this new one to perform perfectly and last just as long as all my others... it certainly performs as well so far.I’m not a professional user but over 20+ years of using a variety of tools and brands on personal DIY and some craft projects, all other brands are being replaced with Bahco files.I use one or another of my files at least twice a week, for at least a few hours at a time, and I have found my current Bahco files are practically as good as new after at least 5 years. I try to look after them, cleaning often with a light brushing of WD40 on a nail-brush (kept specifically for this), or if they get deeply clogged I brush with soapy water. Hard to clear particles are removed by overnight soaking in a bowl of water with a capful of bio-laundry liquid (dissolve laundry liquid in hot water before putting the files in).*I use an assortment of files and cuts on a variety of surfaces, some of which are:III Metal - steel, brass, copper, gold and silverIII Wood - always hardwood, most often sheesham, which in my opinion develops a lovely satin finish when filed smoothIII Stones and minerals - I filed some linear decoration on a rough lump of green onyx, plus a satin-finished panel for a monogram. I loved the finish against the rough onyx but the client decided to change it to gloss, which involved polishing paste and increasingly fine file grades (and hours of work). All this work had no impact whatsoever on the files.III Personal care (honest!) - In addition to the usual purposes of a metal file, I actually use a few favourite Bahco files for filing my nails, pretty much daily. My nails are very soft, easily broken and have two permanently deformed nailbeds that need filing to stop them growing into horizontal bumpy ridges. I gently file the nail smooth in stages over a few days, then a half-round file to finish the tips of my nails. Far better and infinitely smoother than emery boards and expensive glass nail files wear out too quickly.So after that alternative use for a high quality metal file, I will finish by adding that as long as the quality remains, and I have the money, I will continue buying these.Ps. I realise I have written a lot so I’d like to add that I have not been asked to review this by anyone, paid or unpaid, neither do I know anyone connected to Bahco. I’m just an honest person who appreciates quality over quantity.*After any cleaning that involves water rust could develop - as with all uncoated metals - so they must be carefully dried and have a careful coating of WD40 brushed ALL OVER and INTO ALL GROOVES, afterwards carefully wiping off excess with soft cloth. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars sharp: an excellent file *by R***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 August 2017* I have never bought a Bahco file that has been less than excellent and this is no exception. You can buy or make a handle for it, if you like or use it without, it works just as well. I bought this to sharpen tenon and dovetail saws, so 12 teeth per inch, and it makes short work sharpening even the old tools I buy for restoration work.
