As a consultant who does a lot of training, I still rely on some DVDs for classroom videos. I got this product after I lost an old external player I attach to my laptop. I had a bad experience with another product with klunky drivers. This product worked great right out of the box. The convenient connected USB cords and storage slot mean one less thing to lose. At first I thought the multiple ports for other storage media was over the top, but I was wrong. This multipurpose machine means I don't need to connect a USB hub to an external hard drive with other movies, or the USB dongle for my slide controller. Very convenient with my Surface Pro that has only one USB port. Very happy with this product. Worth the price. Only downside was that one side of the CD/DVD tray's plastic face plate is disconnected. Small assembly defect or shipping damage.

I have just changed from a desktop computer to a laptop, which did not come with an optical drive. Since I have many years of tax software on disk, I needed to be able to read them on my new laptop in order to open those tax returns. So, I got this ROOFULL external optical drive, which also had other ports that I need since my laptop didn’t come with much. And I’m used to a PC which had plenty. This works well, but the one thing I don’t like is that the drive opens every time I shutdown the laptop each night. That drives me crazy. My PCs have never done that.

This is a great product at a reasonable price. I recommend it!

This simple device arrived as expected. I plugged it in to my Windows 11 computer, and the "device" showed up in File Explorer, but "Please insert a disk into the USB Drive (F:)" message. But the front "eject" button wouldn't work and there was no light on the device even if you manually opened the tray with a paperclip and inserted a DVD. No "reading/writing light". No sound. Followed the various troubleshooting steps, No Joy. To test that my USB port was working right, I connected another USB "disk" drive which worked and the light came on. Downloaded the driver (which shouldn't be necessary for the power light to come on). No Joy. I returned it for a free replacement. - - - - 2026 02 24 - update - - - - Replacement drive arrived today. It worked perfectly (as far a lights coming on, eject button working and it is "writing" a CD-RW disk as I write this. It played a DVD movie as it should. I'll also note that the replacement drive was properly packed. The replacement drive was nestled in a plastic shipping insert, with the external USB cord in its own slot in the insert. It has the same documents as the first drive. This replacement drive shipping insert and drive were in a plastic bag inside the box. The insert fit the box as engineered. My "troubleshooting" mindset looking at the "evidence" hints highly that the original drive had been returned (without using the insert and bag) because the original drive didn't work. When it arrived back at the shipper, they didn't "test" the returned drive and they just put it back on the shelf to ship it off to me . . . as a broken device.

This drive / dock is really handy and exactly what I needed. It's super nice to be able to have it hooked up to my comp and be able to use it for both SD cards + CDs. I've had great experience with getting it to read anything that I put in it. It's also pretty compact for what it is.

First impression was its a well built unit. I purchased the 8-1 unit and received in great shape. Unpacked the unit which is packed well and plugged in to ,lap top and tested with several DVD's and right away was as many have reviewed a plug and play unit.. Came up immediately in my file explorer windows 11. already used a DVD-R to drop documents and files and no problems at all. did just what I expected it to do - Even put on a movie DVD and worked as I had also dropped VLC app on the new computer. Read the order Amazon page as there is complete instructions info in detail. Also once you find the unit works for you, notify them by e-mail and request the 2 year warranty. They will respond quickly and set it up for you. Can't go wrong with a 2 year warranty. Their customer service is excellent, sever a problem during the warranty period it would be handled quickly and professionally. Again grab that 2 year warranty. Its just an e-mail away.. Overall can only add as so many have it is a great unit and great warranty. These folks stand behind their product completely, so no need to worry you'll have no recourse if you have an issue with the unit. within the 2 year warranty. So far I am impressed with the unit. Glad I purchased. For many will just be a plug and play unit! But do read all instructions on the Amazon Rooful order page - Its extensive and informative. Worked out great for my needs. Since my computer didn't have a disc drive and every now and then it comes in as awesome addition. Easy to hook up and does a good job.

Works well and as expected.

I have not used this yet but it looks like good quality and as long as it works it is goos - yes I should test it before the review but just haven't had time.

Very happy with my purchase. Was fonctionnal as soon as I plugged it on my portable computer (Windows 11). The seller also sent me a nice pdf to help using it.

It is annoying that DVD's are not on new computers but this works perfectly for DVD movies and data drives from my car and security cameras.
