Poor quality, started to fall apart on the first walk
I bought a pair of these to take to the Congo with me as I wanted something non-waterproof and tough that was breathable and would dry out quickly. On my first walk, which was 5 miles on gravel paths in the UK, the rubber sole began to peel away at the toe tips on both shoes. On the second walk in the Congo, they started to peel away even more, and on the third walk the lace system broke on one of the shoes. Abysmal quality considering the price I paid for them. I've heard it said that Merrell quality has nose-dived over the last 10 years, and sadly it seems to be true.

I must admit that I always considered Merrell to be a budget brand for outdoor gear but these boots were a pleasant surprise, well made uppers actually made from one large piece of leather as opposed to so many modern boots that seem to be sewn together from many small scraps. Tread is good, very grippy and they just feel good on my feet, comfortable for long hikes right out of the box. Hoping that they last for a long time.

I wanted to like these but they did not offer side support and almost rolled my ankle. They are too rounded on the sides and rock easily from side to side and almost caused me to roll my ankle. The look nice but I can’t recommend them
