Easy to set up and use,reasonable priced to be FAA compliant and legal !! And very pleased with it's small size !!! Because the last thing you want is to be flying your drone around with a brick mounted on the hood , so it gets a thumbs up 👍 from me

I was on a waiting list for two other, more expensive, RID units for a month or more when Amazon recommended this one by Holy Stone. It's easy to set up with a Bluetooth phone, worked for me the first time, and has showed up on OpenDroneID, AirSentinel, and DropneScanner on my smartphone. A recreational flyer can use one of these for all the drones in their fleet that need RID. A commercial flyer needs on RID for each drone. It's very light weight, something like 12 grams, and attaches with velcro. My Air2 and now my Mavic 2s are 'native' RID compliant. I'll use these Holy Stone RID units for my Typhoons and Inspires that are not RID compliant. The only problem I had was that one of the QR Codes in the printed material led to the wrong website to download the Android app to configure the unit. I used Holy Stone's Chat feature on their website to contact them. A very helpful tech answered quickly and advised me to use the one on-line, which I did. This whole experience helps convince me that Holy Stone is better than the ordinary 'toy drone' manufacturer...

I've had this for almost a month and have been concerned about tracking its broadcast. After doing some research, I stumbled across the compatible device list (already verified) for the drone scanner app under the HELP|How can I find out what my phone is capable of?|devices list from OpenDroneID link. The preferences tab in the drone scanner app also verifies what my devices are capable of detecting: It does not work with this module on my iphone 12 pro, on a Samsung Galaxy A32, or ipad 2018. It IS detected on a Galaxy a7 tablet. At last! I CAN verify that this module is actually broadcasting! Air Sentinel also detected the module (I wanted to double check with another app) on the Galaxy A7 tablet. It was easy enough to attach to the drone with velcro, and I really like how small it is and that the price is not outrageous. If I had a real concern, I'm a little afraid that battery life will not be very good. I had it charged up last week and it was completely dead and requiring a recharge this week (it was not on when it was stored). For the price, this is at the very least a good starter remote id until I can afford a newer drone. Thanks Holystone! Customer service was prompt and assured me that the drone would be broadcasting, but not necessarily super helpful in pointing me to the resources needed to personally verify the module works.

Had to get one of these because my old Mavic Pro couldn't get the firmware update needed to stay compliant. Easy enough to register and charge, I just fastened it with a piece of strong velcro to the top of the drone and it's been fine as far as I know.

Purchased the Holystone remote ID module for an older > 250g drone that lacks the functionality. Note that along with the drone, the module has to be registered with the FAA in the US. Downloaded the Android version of the Drone Go2 app to configure the module, no issues. One thing I learned (and that Holystone customer support didn't catch), was that on Android location permission must not only be granted to the app but location needs to be enabled (I normally leave location off in a likely-futile effort to minimize tracking by Big Tech). Initially I had granted the permission but NOT enabled location and the Drone Go2 app couldn't find and connect to the module. Attached the module using the provided Velcro adhesive strips. Was worried that they wouldn't hold and the module would depart the drone, but so far in about a 1/2-hour of flying it has stayed in place. Tested and tracked the drone and module with the OpenDroneID app, worked fine. There are much more expensive remote ID modules available, but the Holystone seems to work well and is very reasonably priced.

I am an RF design engineer. I have a full RF design laboratory and have designed BLE devices. I received the RID unit this morning and immediately charged the battery until it showed full. I then downloaded the Drone Go2 app and connected to the RID. It said that a firmware update was needed so I allowed that. It appeared to be successful and the app told me to reset the RID, which I did. On the next connection to the app it said that a firmware update was needed, etc. And again... So it seemed to be in a continuous "update needed" loop so the next time I selected "cancel". It then allowed me to enter my setup information and told me to reset the unit. After doing that I go the expected fast blink followed a few seconds later by a slowly blinking green LED. I then tried to reconnect with the Drone 2Go app with no success -- no response at all. As a BLE engineer I have several BLE diagnostic apps on my phone. Anyone can load them off of the Apple app store for free - search for Nordic Semiconductor, Renasas Semiconductor, of Cypress Semiconductor. At any rate running any one of these apps shows the presence of the RID device BUT here is where there is a major problem: Trying to connect to the RID device using any of these free apps SHUTS THE RID OFF!!!! Both LEDs turn off and the broadcast ceases. I inspected the over-the-air signal using a spectrum analyzer and there was NO output after a simple BLE connection attempt. This is a pretty major firmware problem, to say the least.
