Review: A great winch.... - It’s small and light but powerful as well! I’m using this as a portable hitch mounted winch so the integral solenoid is excellent!
Review: works and is strong save your back and get or make a pickup crane - i read the directions, and you have to stretch and tight wrap the cable starting from 5 wraps, on spool. I used 6 ga wire from idling 14.6 volt battery 16 feet away to crane, and 6 ga wire to frame ground with additional ground cable to frame from battery. OE pickup wiring is not good enough for something like this. I haven't taken an amp reading sorry:( I stretched the cable by attaching winch to tree and having crane pull pick up to tree with brakes applied and it pulled very hard, but during free spool it still unwraps easy. I used it for at least 3hrs straight of heavy lifting and dumping. I bought a NATIONAL snatch block used for soft rope and it worked, but i cut the side off of the shiv. I found a quality superwinch brand snatch block at Runnings farm store, for 14.00. will use it from now on. During winching as the cable wraps up the gear ratio gets higher, making the pull harder. This is my first winch, and i should have bought one years ago, my back would be better, that is the sole reason i bought this in the first place, because i know several big strong guys that have done a lot of heavy work and also have had at least one back surgery. If you are thinking about moving heavy stuff and that a winch would take too much time, think about lifting 10lbs or less for 6 months while vertebrae heal from three surgeries. Just think about that, is a 100 dollar winch and a truck crane too much? The other thing to calculate if you don't have things is tackle for the winch, some choker chains, clevis', shackles or d rings. I had steel laying around and made a crane, and bought the beam, it was 60 inches long with a 4 ton jack positioned less than 12 inches from the pivot and i lifted at least 450 lbs with no problem, and i had odd angle drag/pulls (ruining snatchblock) that worked well starting from 1/2 spool ratio to full spool ratio and the motor rpm slowed maybe 10%? I have a tool bag to store it in. Lifted rider mower, snowblower, big block engines (425 455 OLDS), and trees. will buy again if it fails and i can't fix it. If the control fails one dpdt momentary toggle switch with furnace thermostat wire will take its place, for cheap and very durable repair. UPDATE 10-19-24 Had this at the shop, with a mount to the receiver hitch (pickup on a hoist). I picked up a 350 TBI with intake on it, it pulled 100-109 amps using inductive amp clamp this was cable water falling out opening, dragging very hard on the cable. The cable never frayed. Lifted 6 feet vertical. Have received many questions if this would work on a four wheeler. If a person used a group 26 or group 58 or larger (extra winch battery) and had a 5 amp alternator on four wheeler this would work, but remember to use a snatch block to increase load capacity of dead lift up a cliff, or out of suction from mud. A person could use a jumper pack battery to run it, just remember that cable size is the key. IF you hook it directly to a small atv battery and try to use it to capacity, it might melt the terminals right out of the battery. (Keep reading) I have worked on a golf cart now of my bosses and was able to easily find 12 volts to hook a winch to. I answered a question about this some time ago and said i thought you should be able to do this. You absolutely CAN put this on a (electric) golf cart. Just find 12v, use 4ga, 2ga. 1ga or larger cable. I loaned it to a friend and he tried to roll a vehicle into a building, (winch was bolted to the floor) and it would not do it. He was by himself and was not able to get it to jump ledge of floor. If you use it to load a car trailer with winch bolted to bed or very low on trailer, hook to REAR of car and pull onto trailer, and help push it. (This is not a 9000 pound winch.) The big mistake i have seen people do is hooking to the front of the car, with a front hook; when the car approaches the bed of the trailer and needs to jump a ledge, the suspension absorbs the torque and squats the car, making it very difficult to load. The car tires then bear into the edge of the bed and will not go on the trailer bed.......but you can help push it on by hand with a few people. If the winch is lifting (mounted about 3 or 4 feet above bed of trailer ) while pulling it will make more things possible. Using a snatch block will double pulling power. Hope this helps

## Questions & Answers

**Q: ?Can this winch be mounted on the back of a pick up truck to lift items don to the truck bed**
A: I'm not sure if I understand your question. It sounds like you need a hoist or crane that bolts in the back of your bed. They are fairly common and could be found on amazon.

**Q: what is the size (height, width and depth) of the box that contains the winche warn 92000 2000DC**
A: About 10 x10×15

**Q: is there a solenoid on this unit**
A: The winch will use two relays. It does not have a solenoid.

**Q: Can the 92000 be run off of a 120v to 12v converter?**
A: I would be leery of it because the 92000 draws a huge amount of current, even the smallest version would draw 50 amps. You would probably melt your converter under load. My lowest model winch melted a 50 amp on/off power feed switch and I had to attach the wires directly to the 12V battery..
