Lowers the drain quite a bit, be careful!
This lid operated disposal is about 1/2 as noisy as my old InSinkErator (which lasted over 20 years). It is a little clunkier to operate the lid than the old unit, but I think the stopper will be way more durable in the long run. Installation was not super easy, the instructions are not that great with this particular set up. But if I can figure it out, so can you. The biggest downside to this unit is that it is 2-3 inches longer than the originals, and that puts the waste outlet very close to level with my drain stub. Mine was just enough higher to get away with it. But be careful, the disposal outlet has to be above your drain line or it will never empty.

Great but need to buy adaptor kit to install!
Works great! Husband was able to install it himself. (he's handy). But know that you must buy the cords as they don't come with it. So add on another $85. for this: Evolution Cover Control Batch Feed Adaptor Kit with Power Cord for InSinkErator Power and Advanced Series Garbage Disposals. and you don't need all of the pieces to this kit... the one piece needed is not sold separately.

What an Absolute Nightmare
This should be a 20 minute install if you're replacing an existing unit. If your existing unit is the cover control unit and you want to replace it with the same, the company has "improved" the unit by making curious changes, completely changing the way the stopper is designed, which renders the unit about two inches lower at the drain connection location. You'll be able to line up the new unit left/right, but not up/down, then you'll be on your way to the hardware store. They don't mention this anywhere, except in the box there's a document that warns you about this. For most this will be the first time they learn this. All Insinkerator does is use the nickname "EZ" all over the place. EZ snap in place installation, just the easiest thing in the world. No, it's not true. Then it gets bad. The manual will insist that if you don't use the spring connector which they provide on the drain connection your warranty will be voided. This unit, though, does not use a spring connector. Is anybody home? For the electric connection, you'll need to go back to school for engineering. Inside the bottom of the unit is a plastic connector, and you're supposed to strip the stranded wires and "push them in to lock." As you can imagine, whether this works or not is up to the wire, how stiff it feels like being as it's pushed in. It's likely this will take several attempts and you'll never feel like it's a good connection. Because it's not! Then you stuff that into the bottom of the unit. You'll probably need to buy a power cord. If you want to use a cord with a plug you can. They make one. But you won't get it with the package. Once you get it (if you're using the plug type, not hard-wired) and connect it, stuffing it all in and making the connector fit is a job best done by a magician. It's a shame we have to figure out how to install these products, after they break down after a few years and have to be replaced. They promise it will be easy, BUT you'll find out there must be no-one at the company aware of the absence of sensible instructions, zero instructions that actually apply to your unit, and missing parts. Bottom line: This unit will replace your cover control unit, but you'll need to spend hours reading three or four different online manuals (if you can find them), learn how to ignore the WARNINGS that have nothing to do with anything, get lucky with the electrical setup and rebuild your plumbing pipes. Many people are familiar with this brand; Insinkerator has a well-deserved good reputation for quality and value. I thought of that as I ordered this unit, having had several in the past and done many easy replacement installs. My hopefulness of a slick, sweat-free install was destroyed when I went to actually install this. It took me all day. Still, it might be negligent of me not to mention these are great units (once installed) and if you're not replacing an existing unit (if doing a new install), my biggest issue doesn't apply. I do recommend this brand. The company should not use stranded wires going into plastic snap-in connectors; they should write instructions for this unit; they should include a power cord, and the install-dimension-mismatch with the drain connection dropping two inches should be a bold WARNING on the box! I hope Insinkerator sees the light of day and standardizes. This was installation hell!

Using a 3-prong plug? DON’T BUY THIS MODEL!!!
There is SO much misinformation within the reviews of this product. Many misguided people complaining about hours wasted on incorrect wiring, power cords not included, and confusing instructions. Let me address the most important: 1. If you want to use this model with a 3-prong plug, DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL. You are throwing away money. The only 3 prong ez connect cord that’s sold separately for the unit is part of a $119.00 kit, model KIT CCKIT-00A. This is not simply a plug it’s a conversion kit, that includes the ez connect plug (which truly is idiot proof) power cord you need, but also includes, three parts you don’t need - because they’re included w/ the EVOLUTION COVER CONTROL model. You will now own 2 stoppers, 2 anti-vibration tube extensions, 2 collar rings and 2 magnetic switches. You only need one of each. If you want to use a hardwired connection buy this model. If you want to use a plug, save yourself $84.99 and buy INSINKERATOR EVOLUTION .75HP 3/4 part no. 80021-ISE for $249.99 - (I cut and pasted the product descriptions of both units and they have exactly the same power) Then, buy conversion kit KIT CCKIT-00A, which is currently reduced on Amazon, from $119.00 to $84.99. This will convert your $249.99 evolution .74 3/4 unit to the Evolution Cover Control model, saving you $$$. I bought the Evolution cover control then discovered the above, which brought my total cost to $433.99 - stupid mistake, but now at least I have backup parts. Both units have a 9 year warranty. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND the dimensions of the evolution 0.75 HP will increase when you add the conversion kit from 12.25-inch T x 8.25-inch to 15-inch T x 8.25-inch W. Installing the power cord was a cinch! You literally lower the ez connector cartridge into the bottom opening, slide the female cartridge toward the male prongs snap it in and insert 1 screw to secure. There’s no wiring, wire caps etc. hope this was helpful. 2. To say the instructions are vague, would be generous. They include a manual, not specific to your unit, but the series in general. Each step has a roughly 5-6 word minimal instruction. My suggestion? If your are buying the conversion kit, focus and read those instructions, first. THOROUGHLY. They are ever so slightly more specific, but you’ll still have to refer to the main instructions for installing the top of sink elements. Add the conversion kit to the main unit first, so you know the full size you are working with, which will determine if you need updated pipes/elbows as this unit is significantly longer than most standard units. For your sanity I would order everything I listed, read the instructions, assemble the unit, determine if you need additional parts on day one. Then prep and install the next day. I guarantee this will prevent a lot of frustration, cursing and if your other half is assisting it could save you marriage because these instructions could drive a man crazy. Also this unit is much heavier than standard units it’s 20.7 pounds so a helper or a nice stack of books would be prudent. In conclusion, after much research INSINKERATOR is the premier brand for disposals. BUT you get what you pay for. If you cheap out and by the $129 model, I guarantee, you will be replacing it in a year or less. Their low-cost models are made of galvanized steel (cheap, soft metal that rusts when it’s exposed to water …which it will be…continuously?!). Make sure you, at the very least, buy a model that’s made of stainless steel… also the more you spend the longer the warranty. The $129 model is 1 year, the models I have mentioned are both 9 years. INSINKERATOR claims they have an amazing no cost service call warranty service… BUT read the fine print, most of the issues you would encounter with these units are not covered and are considered wear and tear, or user induced. *I HIGHLY SUGGEST buying a “DANCO DISPOSAL GENIE” 3.125” plastic strainer. They sell them on here. They let water flow rapidly down your drain while protecting your disposal from utensils or other destructive objects from falling down. Under $10 bucks Cheers!
