Blaze Evercade Sunsoft Collection 1

For some reason Blaze went with Aero as the cover star here, but Aero is a janky game and the lowlight of this collection. Still fun but definitely not on the stellar quality level of the rest. Sunsoft's peak was in the 8 bit era and this collection shows it. Arabian is a very early but fun Donkey Kong-esque Famicom arcade platformer that does not hold back on difficulty - a common theme for Sunsoft. It's the second worst game here and it's a minor classic. Journey to Silius started life as a Terminator adaptation, and it feels every bit like a Terminator game. One of the NES's finest run and guns, even if it's a touch too hard for mere mortals. Blaster Master Boy for the Game Boy is similar in many respects to the Bomberman series, but it doesn't play like it, so don't be fooled. It was a sequel to a sister game to Bomberman made by Hudson Soft, Bomber King, known in the US as Robowarrior. How did Sunsoft come to own it? Who knows? But it's very fun. Blaster Master needs no introduction as one of the NES's brightest stars. Even so, this is suddenly one of the best games on Evercade. Last and certainly not least is the cute but deadly Mr Gimmick. This physics platformer looks and feels 16 bit ish. It's amazing it was done on the NES. But make no mistake, this is an extremely difficult game. Original carts will set you back hundreds of dollars so this is the way to play it for sure. All in all, there isn't a terrible game here, while the best games here are challenging and endlessly replayable. It's a must buy if you have any love for challenging 8 bit platform action. Even if Mr Gimmick or the SOPHIA should have been the cover star.

I bought this particular collection for 2 games in particular; Mr. Gimmick and Blaster Master. The collection didn’t disappoint. If you were to purchase the original copy of Mr. Gimmick for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, you’d pay several hundred dollars easily. Having this collection makes the game affordable and accessible to anyone who wishes to play such a classic title! (Also, the ability to save these games wherever you are in-game is a huge benefit!) All the games in the collection play to perfection. I can’t recommend this collection enough. Well done!

I like most of the game in this collection. Not a big fan or Aero The Acrobat. However, the game Gimmick alone makes this collection worth it. That is one of the most expensive games on the Famicom (Japanese NES) which was a late release and technically impressive for the hardware at the time. Hoping the next release (vol. 2) has Super Spy Hunter, that was one impressive game for the NES.

I recommend. All games are excellent.

La emulación en Evercade funciona de forma impecable. Los controles responden con precisión, los juegos se ejecutan sin fallos y la experiencia es fiel al hardware original. Es una colección que se disfruta tanto en portátil como en sobremesa, especialmente si te atrae la estética y el ritmo de los 8 bits. No todos los títulos han envejecido igual, pero el conjunto ofrece una mezcla muy equilibrada entre nostalgia y descubrimiento. Para quienes ya conocen el catálogo de Sunsoft, es una oportunidad de tener varios clásicos en un formato físico muy cuidado. Para quienes no, es una puerta de entrada perfecta a una de las desarrolladoras más creativas de su época. En conjunto, un cartucho muy recomendable para ampliar la biblioteca Evercade con juegos de calidad, historia y mucho encanto retro.
