Review: Supportive, Comfortable, and Waterproof - I rely heavily on desertcart product reviews, so I was little hesitant to purchase these for $150 with no reviews. I am always on the hunt for a good solid shoe and I think most people would agree that it's next to impossible to find anything decent for under $100 these days. Upon further research on the company's website, I found that these are a new model for Topo, so I decided to take the plunge and purchase them without any reviews. I'm happy to leave the first desertcart review to help others in their purchasing decision. I currently have several pairs of Altra Provisions and was looking for a waterproof version of that shoe. Altra does not make a waterproof Provision and so I tried both their Lone Peak and Olympus GTX, which ARE waterproof but neither of these shoes worked for me. Upon first receiving the Topo Terraventure 4 WP, I found that they are made extremely well. I tried them on and OMG, comfort right out of the box!!! They feel way more supportive than the Altra's in that, they feel like they are hugging your foot. The area around your ankle feels like a collar - not restrictive in any way - but feels like it supports your foot from going from side to side. I also like the way the shoe feels underfoot. You can feel the entire sole making contact with the ground below, which gives an extremely supportive and steady feeling. I like a zero drop shoe, which the Altra's have and these are only 3mm drop, so I cannot really notice the difference between the two in that aspect. The toe box is very roomy like the Altra's as well. I cannot speak to running or hiking in them but with the support that they offer, I imagine they would be perfect for both. I use them for walking and for me, they are a very comfortable shoe for daily use too. They are definitely waterproof and great for inclement weather. I am a solid Size 7 but like the Altra's, these seem to run a 1/2 size small, so a 7 1/2 fit me perfectly. I like them so much that I just purchased the non-waterproof version of the Terraventure 4, which are great too! My only suggestion would be to offer these in more colors to choose from instead of just grey. Review: High quality, except for waterproofing! - I do daily fast hikes, about 3-4 miles, on mostly unpaved urban park trails. I was SO excited to again have a pair of waterproof hikers! Unfortunately, the right shoe leaked enough that my sock was wet (not soaked) when I finished my trek. I'm attempting to exchange for a new pair, and hope the waterproofing is just not low-performing overall. My left foot was totally dry. These are my 2nd pair of Topos, after having been an Altra enthusiast for 4 pairs of Lone Peak and 1 Timp. I switched because the Altra treads wore out in less than a year and prices kept climbing, while features were reduced! I much prefer Topo's vibram soles and more supportive, less spongy feel. It holds my foot more firmly, too; feels more secure with lateral movements and clambering over rocks and roots. My first pair was non-waterproof Topo Pursuit. Tread is definitely worn, but still serviceable for street walks (whereas Altras are worn past flat in key areas). Terraventure seems to be cut a bit slimmer in the toebox, which is a plus imo, still plenty of room for toe spread, but more agile on the trails. I'm prone to plantar fascitis, and it nearly disappeared after I started wearing the zero drop shoes. The Topo Pursuit is zero, and I don't really notice a difference with the Terraventure's 3mm drop. The only thing missing for me is a heel pull-on loop, but I still would enthusiastically give it 5 stars, but 4 now for the faulty waterproofing. I wear size 8M, have a slim foot with slightly narrow heel and these fit perfectly, no heel slippage and the collar does not cut into my ankle bones. I like this minimalist, go-with-everything dark grey color.

Life changing
The absolute best sneaker I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. I walk about 10-12 miles/day 5-6 days a week and these have made my feet feel so good while doing so. Size is true. Lightweight and truly waterproof. No slipping and built with the highest of quality. The most important thing to me is the wide toe box to relieve pressure off of my bunions. I can walk with zero pain for 8+ hours! I will be wearing TOPO brand for a long time to come! Excellent quality and value.

Comfortable, wide, waterproof, and great support
Great shoe for my wide bunion feet. Great for my morning walks. Comfortable and waterproof. My feet don’t get sweaty. They seem lightweight compared to others I’ve tried, but super sturdy.

NOT WATERPROOF and wore holes in them in 5 months.
Ordered these just over five months ago- it has barely rained the last 2 1/2 months. Both shoes have holes wearing in them in the same place and are not waterproof at all. They were waterproof for the first 2 1/2 to 3 months top. Only pro- they are comfortable.

Great supportive rugged shoes for hiking and having fun!
These shoes were recommended by a friend who was also having foot issues. I usually wear a size 9 in women’s tennis shoes and ordered a 10 based on friend’s recommendation, and they fit great. I included a picture to illustrate where my toe is compared to the edge of the shoe. I do not like my toe anywhere near the edge, but I think this illustrates the fit. These do have a wide toe box which is great. I used them on a 2 mile hike with inexpensive orthotics in them and didn’t have any pain from my plantar fasciitis, so I was very, very happy! These also seem to be somewhat water resistant. My friend said they should be waterproof but anything with laces I imagine, water will get through at some point. I did walk in a river just a bit but not too far in, and my socks never got wet. So far I really love these shoes and actually just purchased the dark teal ones. It would be nice though if manufacturer would address the fit so people will know the proper size to buy. These also have great tread, so perfect for hiking. Looking forward to using them on our Costa Rica trip as we like to do a lot of hiking. Hopefully these shoes will prevent the plantar fasciitis from rearing its ugly head. 🤞

Not the same comfort
My Topo Phantoms are by far the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had so I was excited about getting these Terraventures. However, they’re quite different—the Terraventures don’t have the same soft cushioning and sides. They were quite tight even after loosening the laces and the stiff sides cut into one side of my ankle. They were painful just to put on, never mind walking. The soles are awesome—rugged and grippy. But will be returning since they are less comfortable than my existing hiking boots.

Amazingly Comfortable Shoes
I gave a 4 star until I can test the waterproof quality. I recently discovered this brand early this year. I was an avid user of another brand yet their outsole wore down to fast and their insole was thin and cheap which I would have to replace with a quality insole considering the cost of the shoe. Not with Topos. This is my fifth pair this year - I only wore out one pair so far and rotate between the three other shoes. I decide to try their waterproof version if though I shy aware from waterproof hiking and runners due to the long time to dry and the horrendous order they develop. I’m going on a trip to Alaska and the guides recommended waterproof shoes. I put them on and took a stroll around the neighborhood and my feet felt like they were on memory foam. These shoes are so comfortable and fit me perfectly. I love the color of the shoes as it’s a dark grey which will hide dirt and stains. I felt very stable in there shoes just like my other Topos. I highly recommend them.
