Couldn't put it down!
My only experience with similar consoles like these are the cheap knockoffs you get with claims of sometimes "over 2,000+ games!!" with 80 to 90% of them actually being retro cartridge games along the lines of "Contra" and "Super Mario Brothers" in terms of quality. This unit, however, eliminates the need to buy multiple systems, controllers, discs for vintage games, etc., all of which can get vsuper expensive in a short amount of time and STILL not give you complete portability to play your favorite PS2 / GameCube game on the bus, in an Uber or sitting in a waiting room! The RG405M is leagues upon leagues above those sort of devices, even the ones that plug into your televisions directly from a main console. For the first 2 weeks, I was playing this whenever I had a free moment and just couldn't put it down! The included set of games does have a large section for NES style and Sega Genesis style games, too, with very limited game quality and genre to choose from, but it also has capabilities of playing higher end games that are usually involving a separate unit altogether and a television, like the Nintendo Wii, a Dreamcast, or different PlayStation models. It comes preloaded with a VERY IMPRESSIVE set of games that run flawlessly and all you really need to do is learn which emulator on the device controls which game and assign a folder for it to access the included games for that system. I never would have dreamed that I could play Wii games in the palm of my hands without owning a physical system or accompanying games like that. One thing to note is that some of the preloaded games are coded in Japanese. Not sure why, but just know that a game you like may have its title show up in the game list in English, but may actually be in Japanese. I also noticed initially when I was playing that one of the buttons, specifically the R1 trigger, felt a little different from the rest as it did not rebound the same way that the others did. Eventually it stopped working entirely, sometimes enabling itself when I pressed nearby buttons or tapped it slightly with my finger with no intention to use it. Contacting customer service, I was able to show them the issue directly by email and they were very quick with the response to replace the unit. I can't promise that for everyone, but they were very helpful in diagnosing what the issue was and issuing a compromise. Nothing much else to say about this as it is built so well and is similar to other models and design but has a more intuitive layout in terms of gameplay, at least to me, since I grew up on PlayStation games and the related controllers. You have the ability to play games that used to be on the Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Color as well. Some will require the screen to be flipped or to show both screens, but doing a little tweaking, you can get those games to work to your favor. There's so much innovation and customization you can do for these games and emulators so just do a quick search on the internet for any sort of modifications you want to set in place and they will retain that information after closing and re-opening your games. Last thing I want to note is that the battery life is INSANE!! I could play for literal hours upon hours and actually did so the first few days I had this, trying to beat a Zelda game, Ocarina of Time. Ignoring the frustration of the game itself, I really enjoyed having this just readily available to get back into casual gaming. Sometimes it's just a hassle or it feels like a lot to have to turn on your PS4 or Wii or legacy hardware + your TV and make sure your controller is plugged in / charged and all that stuff just to have a good time. With this, I can play in my room, in bed, while sitting in a car, waiting in traffic, and just anywhere I felt comfortable. The touch screen is responsive, too, and sometimes it makes it a little easier to interact with some of the games. Saying that this is impressive is definitely an understatement and if you're into Retro Gaming and multi-console gaming but don't have the flexibility of gaming on the go or access to all of these devices, this is definitely something you should check out to suit your gaming fix!

psp shapes and feels of 2005 meets 2025 functionality
Favorite device for emulation. Its pricey but well made. Seems to be the newest version with revised shoulder buttons. Its about the size of a psp2000 version. Feels slightly heavy because the shell it metal, it does get warm under heavy load but not uncomfortably so. Its a t618 chipset running android, so for those that dont know what that means ill list it as follows. It runs android out of the box with options to use other operating systems like gamma should you dive into putting new software on it. It runs NES all the way through PSP with zero hesitation, though the screen may feel small to some, its a 4:3 aspect and crops it to play things with wider screens. Its capable if a few PS2 games but dont get your hopes up, i got BLACK to run but couldnt get games like Ratchet and Clank playable. Most gamecube games i played worked well using the european versions ie. Metroid prime, Zelda:windwaker, metal gear, mariokart and Metal Arms. But its somewhat hit and miss. Mario sunshine is a total mixed bag. In short if you want a premium device to play Most any old console like NES up to PSP it has you covered, beyond that you may need to tinker but in general itll do gamecube pretty well. Battery life is pretty good if you dont push it to max power settings for heavy emulation. Even still it goes about 4 hours at absolute maximum. Things line n64 and under run much much longer imo. The android aspect is handy too, im running gamma OS on mine and use fire fox to browse around the web, and installed musicolet for listening to mp3s , VLC for movies. This feels like a spiritual successor to the original psp. It mimics the shape and feel while being functional in a modern capacity movies music and games in one little device feels like 2007s best moments in highschool study hall all over again.

one star... buyer beware!
My RG405m worked flawlessly for about 3 months. One day I powered the unit down store it in y backpack and left it unused for a couple of week. I went to use it and it wouldn't turn on. I figured the battery might be dead. I was wrong. I used the same charging cable provided with the unite and even tried connecting it to a pc with no luck. The charging light won't light an the battery won't charge. Very disappointed because this wasn't cheap and its a high end emulator. I cant even return it either because im outside of the amazon return window.... Not fun at all. $220 paperweight

Don't reset to factory settings
Feels great while playing. Runs smoothly. Lots of great games. I only regret setting it back to factory settings. It no longer functions at full compacity as far as how how the settings work. Overall still a good system. It would be better if the firmware could be updated more easily.

An absolute beast of a machine
This plays just about everything you could consider retro. There are some tweaks needed, and some games just won't work, but you absolutely can run GameCube and PS2 games on this. I have been enjoying God of War, Resident Evil 4, Mario Kart Double Dash and Final Fantasy 12. It is sort of mind blowing that this is even possible. This is an android based machine, so this is basically a phone that can't make calls but does have a gamepad built in. It works really well and everything is smooth and user friendly. The screen is 4:3 and that is a very good thing for everything but PSP. The 4:3 screen makes the device a little bit smaller than it's 16:9 competitors The battery life has been better than expected and the metal shell of the device gives it a solid build quality that feels like something that a major company would release.

Good Hardware, Bad Pre-Loaded Games Selection
The handheld itself is a wonderful device. My problem is with the terrible pre-loaded game selection. There are duplicates and even triplicates on it, some games don't run, some have gibberish titles and you don't know what they are, and a lot of games are in Japanese. If you're buying this to put your own stuff on there it is a fantastic machine, but if you're buying this just to pick up and play out of the box I would go for something else, maybe an RG35XX for example.

Awesome vertical handheld
I love vertical handhelds and this one was fantastic. Absolutely love the design of this handheld it's like a canceled gameboy color 2 prototype. The unit is actually pretty comfortable when you get use to it but your comfort in very long play sessions may ultimately depend on the game. Anything requiring the two analouge sticks and the triggers will ruin your hands. The battery life is ridiculous I never had this thing die on me even after playing all day a few times. You could run up to psp with ease, gamecube and ps2 requires alot of sacrifices to work tho. My unit sadly came with a gnarly amount of back light bleed on the bottom of the screen. At first it was fine but the moment I started playing more games that involved alot of darkness it sucked. It eventually got to much that I returned my unit. The screen outside of that was fantastic the color is nice and since 4:3 games fit so snuggly in it no black bars. But 16:9 on it is not great because how tiny the window in those games get in order to fit the screen. You can get over it unless you have bad eyes like me. if you like vertical handhelds and want the most powerful one on the market then this is for you.

Just awesome!!
I'm having so much fun reliving my childhood playing retro games. The console came loaded with a TON of games already! If you want to play the preloaded games, it's as simple as using any mainstream console. If you're slightly tech-saavy and willing to put in a little effort, you can also add other games on your own. This intimidated me at first, but I've been able to figure it out with no prior experience and just some light Googling. As far as the console's appearance, it's beautiful and looks professional. Others have thought it was a Nintendo product. It feels sturdy, and all buttons work correctly. It's also super comfortable to hold - I'm a big fan of vertical handhelds. I'm sooo happy with my purchase and only regret that I didn't get into handheld emulators sooner!
