RJMK25 25 Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller with Drum Pads

I see a lot of reviews for using this device for kids as a beginner piano. This is a great product, but you have to understand what it is before buying it. If you want to buy a device for you or your kid to learn how to play piano, this isn't what you want. You'll probably want a full size keyboard with built in speakers. This will not make any noise without some kind of software. If you want to just tinker, you probably don't want this either. However, if you are like me and you want it to input notes and beats into a DAW then this is a perfect solution. It connected to the DAW seamlessly and it's worked perfectly so far. I'm using it wirelessly on tablet. There is a little bit of a lag, but I think there are ways to remedy that and you can connect using a cable if you need to. This will suit my needs and I recommend it if you also need a mobile device for use on a DAW.

The RJMK Mini25 is an excellent budget MIDI keyboard. At $36 I paid, I should have gotten more than one. Right now it is in the $70 range, unless you need a battery and wireless, I would go with a different model from Akai or M-Audio, and look for it used or b-stock at this price, sometimes with a lot of useful software. A USB type-C connector can also be used for USB MIDI or to recharge the built-in battery. The pads, endless encoders, screen, knobs and joystick offer a lot of control for something so small and cheap. The main reason I am writing this review is to document that it uses a TRS 1/8" Type A MIDI connector. This is actually the more uncommon wiring for MIDI - you may or may not need an adapter for another device depending on if it is A, B, or switchable. It does not have a tradition 5-pin connector. Bluetooth appears to work although I had some initial issues. I have yet to test the latency but this is a unusual feature in this price range. The sustain pedal 1/4" input is great to have. Keys are small (not quite the same as my mini keys) and springy, basically imagine the worst synth style keys that still have some sensitivity. Same with the pads. They work for basic use, better than a touch screen, pcb, or button keyboard. Even with these cons, it is a 5/5 for value, as they are expected at this price.

Cool little keyboard the drum pads are a good feature does not Bluetooth connect the GarageBand or Logic Pro it’s ok for recording beats but it is to small to be a fully functional keyboard

I bought this because I wanted to try getting into piano after not having played since I was a kid. I didn't want something super expensive and I like the idea of being able to have any sound I want using the large variety of MIDI software out there so I got this. For the $35 I paid, it does its job well. I was able to get back into playing the piano even though I haven't put a ton of time into it. Works with QSynth on Linux just fine over USB or Bluetooth.

All Features Get 5 Stars, But The Trigger Pads Reduce Rating To 3 Stars. I was delightfully surprised by the build quality of the RockJam RJMK 25 key Mini keyboard controller. The keys, rotary knobs, LED display window, X-Y joystick for modulation and pitch bend, plus ease of front panel editing are very good. The big let down is that the trigger pads are not very sensitive, you have to hit them hard to get a good response. There is a Full Velocity button on the front panel but using it takes away from the subtle nuance of playing drum sounds. The pads need to be more sensitive, which means that better sensors will have to be used but it would be worth the extra cost. The RockJam RJMK 25 key Mini keyboard controller has a very low price now so upgrading the pad sensitivity and perhaps the size of the pads as well would be worth the design tweaks and money in my opinion. I would guess the price would go up about $25 more than the current price, but would be worth it. So, If you are looking for a mini controller keyboard with programmable rotary knobs but do not need the trigger pads for drum playing, the RockJam 25 key Mini keyboard controller might be what you are looking for at a great price. I paid $45 for this Bluetooth 25 key midi keyboard. It feels cheap, the keybed is nothing special, typical spongy feeling, and the keys are closer to full sized compared to most of my other “mini key” keyboards (update: the keys are the same size as my Arturia Keystep’s (but don’t feel the same) so let’s call them “average mini keys” but larger than say a Roland JD-Xi keys). The TFT display is totally adequate. It connected via Bluetooth to my iPad without much trouble and I can hear virtually no latency. The joystick isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, it recenters itself. The knobs are endless encoders, and, yes, also adequate. I’ve felt better pads, but again, this was $45. It has a non-replaceable rechargeable battery, I heard that lasts 4 hours, which could be better, but…it’s the cheap aspect. It does everything it is supposed to do, no less, no more. I wanted maybe something a little smaller, as this is my travel midi keyboard, but there aren’t many keyboards out there that has Bluetooth at this price point. The RockJam is wider than my iPad, I wanted something about the same size as my iPad, which is just my preference. So…. 5 stars if you get this for $45. Maybe 4 stars if you had to pay more. I am suffering from the delusion that I want nice things, I just don’t want to pay for them. This is nice enough. You can get something better by spending twice as much. But should you?

I like the way it looks, the hey are fine, but the sensitivity of the rotary knobs are too low, it takes many many turns to change value, no way to adjust it, unusable for live performance or parameter tweaking! the joystick on the other hand is too sensitive, it jumps to the highest value half way of the stick travel, also super annoying and kinda unusable, even though I got it super cheap I'll probably return it, I wanted a cheap BT keyboard to use with my iPad, this looked good at first glance but these issues are dealbreakers, I'm pretty sure it could be fixed in firmware but I doubt that the company will make an effort to do it, such opportunity wasted!

I got this for my 16 year old son and he loves it. He said that it works incredibly well and is easy to navigate. Although I haven't personally used it, I have heard the results of his work. It is excellent for a beginner or hobbiest. The size is great and easy to put away when not in use.

Works well but it took me a while to find the third-party apps that allowed it to be seen by my Windows based DAW. It does not come with any drivers but is auto-detected via bluetooth as a regular audio headset (not a midi device) Both the "LoopMidi" and Microsoft store "BLE-MIDI Connect" apps are needed in order for your DAW to recognize it as a midi controller. Shame on the company for not providing a driver.

Solida, esteticamente molto bella, con batteria integrata e connessione bluetooth. La tastiera da 2 ottave la rende anche comoda da trasportare. Comprata in offerta a poco meno di 30 euro è veramente imprescindibile, ma anche per il suo prezzo normale è veramente un buon acquisto.
