In fact some operations can take a long time on the NAS, such as backing up a large amount of data to USB so I usually start these operations from the PC, then switch the PC off and go to bed knowing the NAS will work away overnight. **Q: Does this come with installable software such as shoutcast like Synology?** A: In short no, there are some apps but very limited, I was hoping I could get Logitech media server on it but no. Basic DNLA apps etc. If you Google the model you will find a link to the Asus site where it lists what apps you can install.If you want a cheap backup box/dnla box it's great. If you want the apps synology every day of the week. As an aside the latest firmware fixed my time machine backup issues so now it works fine with OS X ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ Buggy software, otherwise okish *by J***N on 20 April 2019* The software is very very buggy. Spent a lot of time trying to work something out on it. Hardware is good though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Insecure *by P***D on 19 March 2019* Though I have been reasonably careful about security, my NAS now has xmrig data mining software on it, burning up my CPU. I will be binning my NAS and replacing it.Amended 8/4/19. The software update and other tips from support do seem to have fixed the xmrig issue. Thank you to the Terramaster support team.
