20 QT Professional Grade Horticultural Organic Perlite (20 QT, Large Size - Perlite)

After reading MANY reviews regarding this perlite, I decided to try it. I needed something really chunky for my orchid mix and can't find it locally. First off, it came in a box (be careful opening the box) and inside was a VERY thin bag. I knew not to pull the bag out of the box as the bag breaks very easily and I could see there was ALOT of dust in the bag. So what I did was, I have 2 of those big aluminum turkey roaster pans and carefully removed handfuls of the perlite and put it in one of the roaster pans (wear a mask or do this outside) and filled it 1/2 full. Then I shook the pan and moved the perlite to the second pan. I shook it again and then removed the perlite from the second pan using my cupped hands and put it into gallon freezer bags. There was TONS of dust in both pans but once I put it in the gallon bags there wasn't very much dust (if any) remaining. *DO NOT RINSE THIS IN YOUR SINK, THAT DUST WILL BE VERY THICK IN YOUR PIPES* I found a few pieces of styrofoam, a few pieces of green easter grass, a few pieces of red easter grass and 1 piece of what looked like broken pottery. I ended up with 2 REALLY FULL gallon freezer bags and 1 quart freezer bag which is almost full (ordered 10 quarts). So I do believe I got my money's worth. The pieces are nice and big and seem like a great quality. ALL perlite comes with dust and I was expecting that but there was alot of dust in my order. But because of the way I cleaned it, I didn't make a mess everywhere and now have BEAUTIFUL perlite for my orchids. Now, before I use it I feel that I could rinse it in the sink (or outside with the hose) and there won't be much dust going down the drain (or on the ground). I wouldn't hesitate to order it again and when I run out I will certainly do that!

Boy are these big. I was not expecting them to be gigantor sized. Think dinosaur meats plant soil. lol jk but they are big. They work well for the plants whom need chunky soil.

This material is exactly like the original Growstones but slightly smaller...but Growstones are no longer being made. I love this material--super light weight, can't crush it easily--unilke perlite--so it won't break down over time. I will definitely re-order once this is used up--I've been searching for something exactly like this for years since they quit making Growstone--thank you so much!

It's hard to find perlite that's a good size and not like half dust. These are great, still a little dust but very minimal. It's a perfect size too.

Nice chunky perlite at a good price. Very poor packaging so it will require either immediate use or repackaging. Quite a bit of dust but it met my criteria price and chunky, I'd give 5 stars if they hadn't shipped it in a wonton wrapper, a Dairy Queen napkin and some dollar store scotch tape.

Nice large perlite rocks. Minimal dust. Great soil amendment for drainage.

This is great product. Correct size for #3 perlite
