Saved the fan!
I had never heard of this being the potential culprit until recently and I tried this to rescue a ceiling fan.... and it worked! I wish I'd known about this years ago. Pretty sure I've thrown out good fans and sent them to a landfill when all they needed was one of these. (Ouch.) Oh well, now I know...

Excellent replacement for ceiling fan
This is a perfect replacement for my Harbor Breeze ceiling fan. Making the change was a breeze (no pun intended) as the light assembly housing and connector was easy to remove and the capacitor was located in the housing well. I snipped the wires and using winged wire nuts, quickly made my connections, secured them with electrical tape, lifted the light housing to the fan and re-connected the power connector, then secured the light housing to the fan. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and all fan speeds now work perfectly. Excellent capacitor at a great price - with a fantastic warranty, to boot.

Will Fit Most Ceiling Fans
I have owned many ceiling fans over the years and one three speed fan that I bought several years ago stopped working on the intermediate speed. I discovered that the capacitor had a hole burned in the top and the five wire capacitor was rated for a 4.5uf capacitor. I tried at several local stores as well as many internet sites to find the proper capacitor but I had to settle for a capacitor that was not a match. This capacitor meets my needs and I finally was able to repair my fan to be able to use all three speeds.

Solves slow fan problem, affordably
If your ceiling fan is not spinning as fast as it used to on high speed, get this instead of a new fan. This will solve the problem and is easy to install. Just make sure that you fan's existing capacitor matches this one and you're good to go.
