Good value, high quality rapeseed oil
Have bought this Rapeseed oil before, and have now purchased 5litres, as the quality and taste is as good as the more expensive brands. Thank you Borderfields

great local product
I started using cold-pressed rapeseed oil as a replacement for olive oil in salad dressing. Yes, it tastes different but at least it has character and fills the role well. Olive oil is getting too expensive, is rife with fraud and isn't produced locally. This oil is less than half the price of the equivalent amount of a good Greek olive oil and has a nice, nutty flavour. You can ignore the 'health fears' around rapeseed oil because they are inaccurate, outdated and don't apply to cold-pressed oil. Good stuff and highly recommend.

As good, if not better than olive oil
Love this oil, as good as, if not better than olive oil, and a fraction on the price. We use it the same as we did with olive oil and no-one knows the difference

Healthy Option
I used to buy cheap canola oil ie Canadian rapeseed oil. I substituted it for butter when baking and it worked very well. I then read that most imported ‘vegetable’ oil is highly refined to remove not only smell, colour and taste but also all the good stuff. Thought I’d try a home grown product that was healthier. It’s taking me a while to adapt to the colour and taste, I remind myself it’s like changing from poor quality pharmacy olive oil to extra virgin olive oil. I first used it to make an orange cake and have to say the natural golden colour of the oil really enhanced the look of the cake, for me there was a slight nuttiness compared to the refined oil but no one else noticed this. I have diluted it with peanut oil for more delicate bakes and it works very well. We used it half and half with olive oil to make mayo for a Caesar salad dressing, that’s quite a punchy dressing, it was good. I always use it to shallow fry and have not had any noticeable strong smell or flavour coming through. It was particularly good when used on a griddle to cook aubergines and courgettes for a salad, no smoking or burning at high temperature. You can cook crispy vermicelli noodles at very high temperature with this oil, interestingly the noodles remained white and there was no strong flavour from the oil. Not used it to deep fry I imagine it would give chips a lovely golden colour. No else else has noticed the change or commented adversely on flavour or smell, in fact I’d say there is less smell when frying, so I will continue to use this home grown oil!

Does what it says
Spent ages looking into cooking oils after going down a bit of a rabbit hole about smoke points and cold pressing — turns out most cold pressed oils aren't actually suitable for high heat which defeats the object. This one is, which is why it kept coming up in my research. Bought the 5 litre mainly because it works out better value and I get through a lot of oil. Taste-wise it's very neutral which is exactly what I want for everyday frying and roasting — you don't want your oil competing with the food. Happy it's British grown too. Will definitely be reordering.

Great Value
The supermarkets typically charge £4-6 for 500ml, so this offers great value at £5 per litre. It's a good general purpose oil with a pleasant, slightly nutty taste and due to its high burn temperature is ideal for stir-frying too. The only challenge comes when decanting it into a smaller bottle. I now have a set of funnels and with some patience it can be filled with minimum mess.
