The cable that is included in the box is not the power cable. The cable that is hard mounted to the drive on the bottom is the connection for your computer, that being said, it is a true plug and play. Once I figured out that I was the issue by attaching the wrong cable, it worked seamlessly. This is exactly what I need with my new Dell computer, I now have the ability to copy my projects to a CD and add to or edit as I want without a bunch of keystrokes. If you have purchased a new computer without a built in CD-ROM, this is your fix, as well as some extra ports just makes it a fantastic buy.

The listing also confirms compatibility with macOS and Linux but I didn’t try it on those devices. I was not able to test out it speed when burning items to a disk but when transferring items from a disk or a SD card to my computer it worked well and didn't take long at all. Working great with 2026 M5 Mackbook pro

Very nice unit. Extremely quiet. The only problem is that the cord is extremely short. It comes with a longer cord, but Windows 11 did not pick it up to assign it a drive letter (cord-powered unit, but no signal to Windows). I have it plugged into the back of my desktop using the short cord and resting on the side. No issues

I bought this to copy music cds onto my iMac 2025 running Sequoia 15.6.1. It powers up, I can hear the cd revolving, but nothing happens on my computer. After a few minutes it stops the revolutions of the cd and shuts down. I had to use a manual method to get the player drawer to open.

Easy to install and small and lightweight enought to carry anywhere.

The installation was simple plug and play on my windows 11 machine. The product feels robust but must be handled carefully. Will update again after 3 months.

My 8-year old Apple Superdrive stopped reading disks leaving me with many CD and DVD disks that I was unable to access. I purchased this drive hoping that it would be an inexpensive replacement, and so far it has been excellent. Reads and writes just as well a the Apple Superdrive. A few tips: the drive only shows up on you desktop when you insert either a blank CD/DVD or a disk with data. Finally, some times I needed to relaunch the finder (under the "Force Quit" menu) to have the drive appear. Otherwise, a great product.
