Right out of the box I was impressed with the heft this thing has! The mounting portion is about 1/8 inch thick. This is no light weight piece of junk. Nope! I just picked up a handle from the local farmer's supply store and mounted this hook blade to it and went out to some large weeds around the edge of the yard. The weight is perfect and before I knew it, the thing had cut down a sapling about 3/4 in dia in on fell swoop! I declared it to be my favorite yard tool purchase of the year and put it in a proper place of respect on the shop! I would like to add that the pin that came with it is fine if you have the means to melt the raw end into a button but it looks like it's stainless so, I just used 1\8" steel round stock and forged it into a rivet. A cotter pin would have worked and so would have a bolt but I didn't want that much slop in a tool that's going to see as much use as this thing will at my house. You will also need to drill holes straight through it with a carbide tip bit if you want to overkill mounting it to a handle like I did. I also drilled through the solid sides of the collar and did not use the hole in the split. I did not want it to work it's way open over time. In no way am I taking stars away from this because I had to do some work to mount it properly to a handle. The workmanship is top notch and will last a lifetime. It's worth putting in the extra effort. If you want plug-and-play, it will be cheaply made and that's not what I wanted at all. This is perfect!

Excellent machete made in one piece and all metal, so you don’t have to worry about the handle coming off one day. It came razor sharp and stayed that way after much use. Perfect for opening coconuts and cutting coconut fronds. Highly recommended

Well made. Smaller than i was expecting. Pictures do not properly show size. They always use someone with small hands using or displaying item so that it looks larger than it actually is.

I rarely if ever write reviews. Having said that this is a heavy duty forged steel bill hook. It's close to an eighth of an inch thick and razor-sharp out of the box. That alone in my estimation makes it worth two or three times what they charge which is why I ordered a second one today the day after I received my first one. I am a huge Swedish steel snob/aficionado and if Gransforse or Wetterlings made anything comparable i'd be all over it. Any of you guys out there swinging a sickle and hoping for something a little heavier to take down the more substantial brambles and saplings..... your search is now at an end.

Machete is a little crude, with sharp edges on the rear of the blade. Back edge is also cheaply painted, and is flaking, not sure of its chemical content, so wouldn't advise cutting any meat with it. The "forging marks" appear painted with a pattern, versus natural highlights from the forging process itself. My next steps before I use it, is to remove all the paint on surfaces, and remove the sharp edges from the back.

Best Billhook for the bucks you can find. I would carry me through the apocalypse, or a long untended back yard with equal confidence. Keep a few different handle lengths handy and it becomes a real multi-purpose limb hacker. Rends green tumble weeds well. can get through those thick roots to. And rough and tumble looking from the start, won't be afraid to get it messy.

I got two of them cause I want to get a long shaft of wood for them so I can have them on each end and have a badass weapon for the end times lol or I'm getting into bushcraft as a hobby and I need these to clear weeds. These things are perfect for either one. Anything made like this will last forever and will never fail you if you take care of them. Even if you don't they can take the abuse. Well worth the money even if they don't look pretty. They aren't supposed too. There is also a straight machete/knife made like these on Amazon you should look into them those with these would be amazing for bushcraft. Just remember they don't co e with handles but can still be used without them. I'd love to see more by whoever made these like shovels hoes and maybe pick axes. I guess the only thing I was disappointed about was the tip wasn't pointy but after years of sharpening I'm sure I can eventually get it into a sharp point. Don't be intimidated by how hard it is to sharpening its not hard just Google how to sharpen scythe blades that's what I did.

incredible, this is a real deal billhook, exactly what you imagine when you think of an oldschool solid billhook. One of the most versatile garden tools, robustly built, should last a lifetime.
