This is a very excellent quality item. These are real crystal (clear glass), not acrylic. It is elegant and looks expensive.This light is installed in an entry with an 8 foot ceiling. As it's directly above the door when it's opened I shortened the chain so it's s now a semi-flush mount and looks great. Everyone who sees it likes it and comments on how pretty it is.I liked this chandelier so much I bought two more. One is hanging in an entry with an18 foot ceiling and the other hangs over an open landing leading to the second floor. Though they aren't very big, they have enough bling to be noticed and not be overwhelmed by the large space in which they hang.This fixture is very simple and straightforward to install. It even came with some additional crystals in case of breakage. I definitely recommend putting the crystals on before installing the fixture.You'll save time, tired arms and stiff neck not reaching overhead for 30 or more minutes putting the crystals on. There are quite a few crystals to hang. The large round drops are attached to a chain of crystals connected by wire rings, the end of which needs to be inserted into a tiny hole in the metal frame. The holes can be hard to see when the bulb is on as you'll be staring into the bright light bulb. They look beautiful and even though they are on one side of the bedroom, they illuminate the whole room. Our living room has one ceiling fan on the far side of the room and where we sit was dark. Our eyes are getting old and bright light helps us to be able to read without glasses, so we decided to get a drop light. We could not find one we liked so we purchased another one of these and turned it into a drop light by running some additional wire, adding a wall plug and chain. Turned out great and now we have plenty of light over our sitting area. We just bought 3 more, one to turn in to a drop light over the dining room table, and the other 2 to replace to old florescent lights in the kitchen on either side of an island. These lights definitely light up our lives. Only two things that should be pointed out. To find the right size ceiling medallion that DOES NOT come in the box was pretty much a pain in the neck, at least the minimum size canopy or medallion should be included in the packing as an option.
