While the freezer must be plugged in to cool. It does an amazing job at keeping items at a consistent temperature. Even when off. Only thing that cam make this better is if it could use a battery or solar power as well.

I am giving this a 3-star rating because the unit did a good job at keeping our food cold but only worked for about 8-9 months. This is the second time that we have purchased this item and will not purchase another one. The are great until they stop working. For us, both units did stopped working within one year. We use the units in our camper. We live off grid and the unit started leaking white liquid out of the back of the unit just before it stopped working. We contacted the company in regards to the first unit and they diagnosed that it needed a new cord. This did not work. We really liked the unit so we just purchased a new one. When the second unit did the same thing, we decided to look for another option. The company contacted us regarding the second unit, but their email attempts were frustrating and too time consumming. We needed a unit to keep our food cold. Needless to say, we did not purchase a third unit. We are currently looking for a more reliable unit that will last a year plus. I am giving this a 3-star because when it worked, it did the job that we needed it to do. Just wish that it was more reliable and lasted for more than 8-9 months.
