Seem solid enough to last plus the suction is very good, I would suggest you line up the glass 100% before you put it down as the suction holds well to then adjust it. Unfortunately they're a bit too small, not much bigger than a drawing pin. The theory was right though, only I needed a bigger suction base. If, like me, you are looking for something to keep a hanging shower caddy from crashing about, there are some suction pads bases of about an inch with clear hooks moulded on which will do a good job.
