It's just the right size for general use, we put tea-bags, bits of food etc into it to save us going out to our main bin all the time. To empty it is very easy as the inner lifts out of the metal base or you can leave the inner in the base and just push it from the bottom turning it inside out, it is also easy to wash for that reason.
