I do not know of any external mount radio that has its own internal battery. **Q: What do I need to connect gps?** A: The wiring is included with the purchase as well as wiring instructions based on what GPS you purchase. **Q: How do you know what antenna it takes?** A: External VHF antenna with a male PL259 (SO238) connector and 50 Ω impedance.
