First class item, good instructions. Remember to pre drill woos as screw slots are a bit fragile, and i needed to replace with mote robust screws. But other than that the ladder fitted well and is an inexpensive way of making roof space available

Comes with hinges to make a swining loft hatch too - and the twisty handly thing for holding the hatch up and a pulley downey bar! It feels solid and well made. *** nearly lost a star because the screws that come with it , the main ones that hold the ladder to the edge of the hole are awful quality. The instructions are OK but they say drill a 3mm guide hole - seems very small for the size of screw. Then you screw in the screws that will be really tight and the heads just burr off and then you are stuck (and yes, I did use the optimum screw driver head). I used different decent quality steel screws and all was fine.

This is the second loft ladder I've installed at 2 separate properties. The first was easier, but this one is actually more robust. Ignore reviews as concerns this being a "dangerous" ladder down to it locking in place on one side only , as the actual lock is extremely robust and the rails locking the ladders together extremely strong and safe. Just because other ladders might have a lock each side it isn't an industry safety requirement. Sure, there's pictures here of the 3 section version twisting with presumably a fairly heavy user on it, but I'm not convinced it's a Biggie. I would suggest going for the 2 section one though in attaining the best robustness if your loft height falls within it's application. I fitted this version. You live and learn with these things and the one important thing that should be upfront in the instructions is to if possible modify and fit your trapdoor first.. If not you'll install the ladder realising it's going to be very difficult to do afterwards either with the ladder either up or down..! I ended up taking the ladder out again in order to do this .. There are 3 issues with this ladder I'd like to point out... 1) Handrail....! Firefighters always ascend and descend a ladder using the poles (rungs in layman language). They do so because it's proven to be far safer and more stable than holding the sides of "rails" of the ladder. Was this "handrail" not attached by two flimsy thin bolts, I wouldn't criticise it as much, but were you to lose your footing and rely on this you would more likely increase the risk of injury. The ad on Amazon also confusingly shows two pictures of the handrail, one fitted to the top of the ladder and one on the bottom. I think both are possible, but why would anyone fit it to the first 3 feet of the ladder? I did try fitting it to the top section, but guess what? When you try to push the finished ladder up it naturally obstructs the guide bars up in the loft leaving the ladder unable to rest flat at the rear and potentially damaging the bars and retaining screws each time you sent it up. There is no conceivable way around this. Was I to live with this I'd have to construct noggins for the ladder to a rest on (rather than damagedly hitting the retaining bars each time). I shelved that idea though as the ladder sat at an angle up there wouldn't be tidy and would reduce manoeuvrability up there, if not present a hazzard. I guess you'll see what I mean if you try to fit the handrail to the top section, but hope you get the jist.. Having said all of that, this is a worthy solid ladder for the money even if you ditch it.. 2) Catch.. The loft hatch rotary catch isn't well designed really, mainly down to it using a soft polythene plastic screw. A metal one would have been amazing and match the ladder quality. Getting the loft door to shut tightly (given the cost of potentially lost heating) was a challenge as a tightly fitting hatch puts the screw under duress as the hasp slides over. I managed to get a happy medium, but it's definitely going to be the only operational failure of this ladder in the future... It's the "Haypworth of tar" compromise or Achiles heel of the product. Manufacturer please note. It may cost a few quid, but get a metal version made as it's a let down... 3) Pole. The closing opening pole is actually the opposite problem to the hatch closing mechanism criticised above! It's really heavy and great quality, but because of that it's really difficulty to attain the nimbleness in attaching or removing it to the hatch closure loop. It's too tight a fit into that hoop too, which produces unnecessary stress onto the aforementioned catch mechanism. The too long threading bar also scuffs my hatch surround skirting when I turn it... Save money on this by just producing a hollow square aluminium pole like your competitors use, then saving the money from that (including by omitting the unecessary handrail) in order to produce a durable metal catch. Bingo... Sort those things out and this product may well end up as the best buy loft ladder out there... Just saying... :) All said above, this is a durable ladder and swing mechanism (the important stuff as goes a loft ladder). It's a good buy at a little north of £80, but it can be improved... Ditch the handrail...

The ladder is nice and lightweight and substantial catches to click the sliding parts in place. I had a query about whether it would fit in my loft space and customer services replied very quickly with detailed, helpful information. Also provided a telephone number if I needed more help. Excellent customer services and happy with the ladder.

Amazingly easy to install took me about an hour very solid and easy to operate well worth the money in comparison to more expensive models

La trappe du grenier est petite, cette échelle est la seule qui passe sans problème. Le système pour la faire rentrer par la trappe est ingénieux et facile à monter (notice de montage claire). En plus elle est robuste et très légère. A recommander pour des dimensions réduites.

Edit: Nach einem knappen halben Jahr (habe es leider zu spät bemerkt) hat die Leiter auf dem Fußboden erheblichen Schaden angerichtet! Die Enden der unteren Leiter haben so scharfe Kanten, daß sie sich durch die dünnen Leiterfüße / Kappen bohren und den Fußboden zerkratzen! Jetzt habe ich neue Leiterfüße bestellt und werde die unteren Kanten der Leiter plan feilen - was natürlich bei der Produktion passieren müßte! Es ist schon erstaunlich, wie wenig weitsichtig heute so etwas produziert wird - ganz schwach! Außerdem ist das Scharnier, daß die Leiter mit dem Dachboden verbindet, also das Teil das am stärksten mechanisch belastet wird, aus Kunstoff - wer denkt sich so etwas bloß aus? Sehr schade, da die Leiter ansonsten gut verarbeitet ist und ohne die erwähnten Punkte einen recht soliden Eindruck macht. Aber wie so oft heute, wird am falschen Ende gespart und es verbleibt ein Produkt, das dem Kunden seinen Fußboden zerstört und wahrscheinlich, durch das Kunstoff-Scharnier auch noch weitere Überraschungen bereit hält! Es ist zum Verzweifeln!
