Review: Very comfortable noise reduction! - I used the older, orange colored version of these for years and really liked them. When they changed to the previous clear version, the material was significantly stiffer, which became very uncomfortable with any length of usage. After reading some reviews suggesting that the new version was softer and more flexible, I decided to give them another try. These are much more comfortable than the Sonic II’s were! I recently shot in a sporting clays event and they were so comfortable that I forgot they were in! It was great to take them out, after a few hours, and not have sore ears! The same noise reduction of previous versions is still there and works very well. After 500 + 12 gauge rounds in close proximity there was no ringing or muffled sound to my hearing! If you need comfortable, convenient, quality hearing protection, you won’t be disappointed!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do these come with a case of some kind?**
A: No. Mine did not come with a case.

**Q: Are the filters removable?**
A: Yes.  In fact they NEED to be removed in order to clean the silicone parts that fit into your ears. These are good at what they say they will do, which is protect from sudden impact noises without giving you that plugged up feeling that regular foam inserts often can.  Keep in mind the noise rating on these is only 18.  (If you are at a gun range I would recommend something with a much higher rating. Something on the order of 30-33 nrr would serve better.)  I used a very similar product for years on stage as a musician and they really saved my ears. They are also good for attending concerts.

**Q: how are they for side sleeping?**
A: I have never used them for sleeping.  They are good for live music because the reduce the overall sound level and especially impact (drum) sound.  They reduce sound levels when the source of sound exceeds a threshold (about 90 dB).  I hope you are not trying to sleep in an area where the noise level is that high.  They protrude from the ear some so sleeping on the side would most likely be uncomfortable.  I also don't think they would shut out the noise sufficiently for sleeping.

**Q: does this block the sound of a barking dog**
A: These are sound reducers.  They will not eliminate the sound of a barking dog, but will reduce the sound level at your ear drum, if the dog bark is loud.

I had some of these years ago and I used them all the time... they were absolutely great I had to replace them, because the other ones just became way too old... at this point I'm very happy with these .. a little uncomfortable when they're new but they're wearing in so I'm very happy...
