I wanted an alternative to the expensive devices, with internet capabilities, downloadable aps, etc. Just something basic for my kids to play on, since they are young and don't need all the bells and whistles. I should have ordered a 3rd, for me, because I often find myself playing them as well. The games are great and bring me back to my childhood. Some of the games are too hard for my kids (4 and 7) right now, but they definitely have a bunch of easier ones to choose from and enjoy playing those. Lots of recognizable characters. As they get older, and develop better hand eye coordination and speed, they will be able to play the harder games, so I see these as something that can hold their interest for a long time. A $17, 150+ game system they can get years and years out of, with the nostalgic fun for me too? Couldn't be happier with this purchase! Its been about 10 days, and we haven't had to replace the batteries yet either! I assumed we'd go through tons, so that was a nice surprise. It also came with a cord to connect it to the TV screen, which I was not expecting, so that was pretty cool!
