This is ideal for beginners who are just starting to learn the mandarin language. Plenty ways to practice throughout the book and perfect for those who are looking to take the HSK tests as this provides all key aspects of level 1

The contents are fine but with no CD it is too expensive. I have now spend a day with this and have revised my opinion. I am on a Mac and now realise that it is possible to download the files via iCloud (one at a time) and that the material that is missing from chapter one is covered in later chapters and in my opinion really very well. (Chapter one only has the first two files). I now don't feel quite so resentful about the price and feel quite positive about my potential progress!

This is a brilliant book for myself as a Mandarin Chinese tutor and as well as for my pupil. It provides all the info needed for non-native speakers and explains a lot of language/cultural differences well. If you are looking to learn Mandarin Chinese, this is the book to get. :)

Value for money! And it adequately prepares you for the HSK exam. This book is also used by my local Confucius Institute, and my chinese teacher has approved of this book.

I was nervous purchasing this book due to the fact I didn't know exactly what I was getting. An inside view would have been nice, but LET ME TELL YOU, this book is amazing!!! I'm teaching myself Chinese and this book is making it SO MUCH EASIER. It comes with a CD with pronunciation and other exercises on it. The book itself has lots of pictures, pinyin, and characters written in a way that is easy to pick up. The chapters are short and simple, but the explanations (in Chinese and English) are really helpful and insightful. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good beginner text. Don't let the simplistic cover fool you; the interior more than makes up for it!

Il libro, in cinese ed inglese, permette di formare - in quindici lezioni - tutte le competenze necessarie ad affrontare l'esame di primo livello di cinese HSK 1 (le soluzioni degli esercizi del corso sono disponibili, previa registrazione sul sito di blcup). Da comperare assolutamente assieme al Workbook, che fin dalle prime lezioni presenta dei test con la stessa impostazione dell'esame HSK 1 (attenzione che il Workbook non fornisce le soluzioni, da scaricare dal sito blcup o acquistare a parte sul sito di purpleculture come "HSK Standard Course 1 Workbook The Recording Script and Reference answers"). Le tracce audio sono registrate con la velocità di lettura dell'esame, per cui inizialmente risultano veloci e devono essere riascoltate numerose volte. Per il resto il libro è sintetico nella grammatica e fornisce delle parole solo il significato con cui sono usate negli esercizi, esercizi che sono molto ben fatti e che risultano a volte simpatici o umoristici. Ricche illustrazioni sullo stile di quelle presenti all'esame arricchiscono il testo, che è fatto veramente bene sia sul piano didattico che su quello grafico.

Hi, i bought the book and i din't get the CD or the Workbook as says on the description.
