Midgard Headphone Amp and Preamp with Balanced and Single-Ended Inputs and Outputs

This is a very good headphone amplifier. As with all things Schiit, the build and component quality are excellent, when combined with quality circuit design, translates to great sound. I may not be keeping this, but that's only because it doesn't have quite enough power for my power hungry Dan Clark Audio E3 planar magnetics. Considering the price, this is an absolutely steal, given it's performance.

Purchased the Midgard and Mimir as an upgrade from a magni unity & modi+ stack. I didn't expect the upgrade to be as large as it is. I've never been a big believer in spending more than entry level money on a dac and amp setup, but I now am a believer. Everything sounds larger and more enveloping. There's a greater sense of space between instruments and sounds. I don't want to go on an audiophile jargon tangent, but suffice to say the upgrade is readily apparent. I haven't even approached 12 o'clock on low gain on any of my many headphones. Even 300 ohm Sennheisers like the HD650/6xx are way loud enough at around 10 o'clock on low gain. This thing has all the power you'll ever need. Midgard at $219 ($256 price on Amazon accounts for shipping and Amazon's cut) is just amazing value. If you're looking for your first foray into the separate amp and dac space, I'd highly recommend skipping the magni or something similar (like JDS atom) and jumping right to Midgard. Its all anyone should realistically need.

Great amp! Powerful, very low noise floor, and classic Schiit house sound with plenty of punch on the low end. Plays well with the Hifiman HE1000se. It was returned because I didn’t realize the headphone output wasn’t truly balanced as advertised on Amazon. Upgraded to Schiit Jotunheim 3. I would highly recommend for anyone that doesn’t care about the amp output not being truly balanced. The XLR Halo output does sound quite nice. 👍🏼

This review is for all the folks looking for the perfect design and build with cost/durability/audiophile performance/warranty which all can be yours from having a quality Schiit product leading to the very best Schiit ever experienced. -Let me save you all sometime; eventhough my audiophile experience is "i" knows what i like and i like this Schiit amp/pre amp as well as all the superior Schiit products. Yep want one of each=right? Schiit being great Schiit and me being greatly anal it seemed were a great pair from the start. i do not have to know the cool audiophile lingo because the anal me researched for hours/days/weeks for the best audiophile products from the best audiophile experts, articles, reiews, real user posts and web indvidual user sites that spanned over years of detailed info and Schiit always remained at the top of every experts and everyones "great" list. so as the saying goes "Try it you will like it!" I tried and i liked=the best Schiit ever! -Schiit sound quality is amperage with audiophile grade sound. We audiophiles crave clean, detailed, and dynamic audio that makes you feel like you're in the room with the band. If an amp doesn't have enough amperage to handle your headphone speakers (especially those power-hungry ones), you might get distortion, clipping, or that flat, lifeless sound. But with Schiit solid amperage, you get better control, deeper bass, and that crisp clarity that keeps you coming back for more Schiit. *Very proud to have a Schiiter in the middle of my living room for daily hours of enjoyment. -Schiit howdy shout out to the caring and prompt great Schiit Team customer care whom help me with guidence and Schiit product support. Amazing amp. Punches way above its price.

Powerful headphone amp for my Sennheiser HD650. Streaming and EQed via my WiiM Ultra by using frequencies provided by ChatGPT. Spot on. You don’t need anything else.

Well, i know i won't save the world with this review, but here it comes. This Schiiit Midgaurd produces a really nice analog sound with an incredibly large soundstage, reminiscent of old time high end audio. The soundstage comes very close to my Ifi headphone amp with the 3d exite switch ( parametric eq) on. It's a warm sounding amp with great resolution and at this price a truly outstanding bargain. This sounds better than a whole lot of amps that i have owned. Highly recommended. And i would add a special thanks to the late greats Gordon Holt and Art Dudley for the inspiration, Ha Ha Ha.

schiit delivers. excellent performance if your thinking of upgrading its worth it. Build is great nice metal casing feeling knob. As for the halo 😇 no clue but something about it sounds better then my JDS Labs element II idk if it the power or what but there’s some magic in there definitely worth trying if you don’t like it return it but as for me it’s time to finish this schiit stack
