Review: Not as “adjustable” as claimed! - This item was not quite what I was expecting. Previously, I have ordered large rolls of the “standard” Brodart “Just a fold” book covers, which can easily be folded to fit any book height. These ones were something new: they came in 3 sizes, which fitted three particular sizes (heights) of books. They can be “adjusted” (so the blurb says) to fit other intermediate sizes of books ( in theory), but in practice this is not so. So, unless you wish to cover only books of the three fixed sizes, I would avoid this particular product. An expensive mistake. (I have since sourced the “original” Brodart “Just a fold” book covers, which, as I say, fit any size of book). Do you mean the book is 8.25" tall and 11.25" wide... and perhaps 1" refers to the thickness... Terminology is important... The main factor will be the book height... in other words, the height along the spine... If the book is larger in width than the height, you might want to go with the Brodart roll, which can be cut to any width... The standard height is usually 9", which will work in your case if I read you right... **Q: About how many books does one roll cover?** A: Kels, great question. As said by others it depends on the books, but it is simple to find the answers. Either remove the dust jacket from each book and lay flat out including the fold flaps, measure this entire length and make note, as well as make note of the height of the dust jacket. Your covers should be a replica of the dust jacket. Do this for each book you have to cover and figure how many yards you need or email us those measurements and we will do it for you. If you have lots of books to cover, you can also just measure the front and back boards, the spine, and the inside fold flaps, without taking off book, make note and also make note of the height. Either way will get you very close to how many yards you need of what height. Remember, the Brodart cover can be adjusted down in height, but will Not fit a taller book that stated size. Is there a particular tape that is recommended for these?** A: I’ve used Scotch Magic Tape as it secures the covers nicely and it is what I have on hand. This tapes shows up cloudy on the cover which does not concern me. However, you might test the classic Scotch tape which is shiny which might look more like the cover material itself. Brodart might have a product for you to use also. **Q: Are these individual 15 yard rolls or combined length of all three?** A: The one I received had three rolls of different heights... You have to understand, Brodart covers come in a variety of book heights to efficiently cover different sizes of books... Most are based on standard publisher's book sizes and are sufficiently designed to be adjustable for the intervening sizes... That's what makes the Brodarts admired by libraries and collectors...
